It seems that we may have learned more about the release date for the sequel to Remedy Entertainment's cult classic, Alan Wake, from none other than the titular character's voice actor. The sequel was first announced two years ago at The Game Awards 2021, where the announcement was overshadowed by many of the other games announced.

Alan Wake was quite the surprise for Remedy Entertainment. Almost a decade after its release, it is still considered by many to be one of the greatest horror games ever made. However, in the sequel, we once again return to the town of Bright Falls. This time around, the game will take a new approach and incorporate elements from the survival horror genre.

Though it has been two years since the sequel was first announced, we have yet to see any actual gameplay footage, this doesn't mean that Remedy Entertainment has been leaving fans alone in the dark, and have been giving fans consistent updates. The most recent update regarding Alan Wake 2, stated that the game was set to be released this year. This statement was made by Remedy Entertainment's CEO, who then confirmed that the game had entered its final stage of production in April.

Besides the vague estimate of sometime this year, we may have gotten hints about the game's actual release by the protagonist's voice actor, Matthew Porretta. In an interview that was held on the Monsters, Madness and Magic podcast hosted by Justin Young, he mentioned that his favorite game of all time was Alan Wake. Porretta did let it slip that he expects the game to be released later this year, around October.

Porretta also confirmed that he is still working with Remedy Entertainment on the Alan Wake sequel and that a week prior to going onto the podcast, he was in Finland. The October release makes perfect sense for a horror game as it lines up perfectly for the spooky season. However, Alan Wake will also have to compete against heavy hitters such as Mortal Kombat 1. We will have to wait and see if the developers confirm the October release date themselves.

At least we have confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has entered its final stage of production, which means we will most likely hear more about the game in the coming weeks. The news will probably be announced during the upcoming PlayStation showcase or the Xbox summer event.
