Less World of Warcraft Players Are Completing Mythic Dungeons
Concerns arise as a new chart shows that fewer players are completing Mythic Dungeon Quests in the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion.

Things don't seem to be going too well for Blizzard's MMORPG, World of Warcraft. A new chart shows that the number of players completing Mythic Dungeons has dropped rather significantly since the previous set of data. This should raise some concerns as the game's latest expansion, Dragonflight, enters its seventh week. This expansion is considered one of the better expansions to be added to the game.
However, despite the praise and popularity that the expansion is getting, according to the data that has been gathered, it would appear that fewer players are engaging with endgame content. We can see this as the number of players engaging with the endgame Mythic Dungeons has continued to drop off steadily on a weekly basis. The developers of Dragonflight will be going within their initial vision for Mythic Dungeons and will significantly be nerfing newcomers to a much more reasonable level.
Something very similar happened during The Embers of Neltharion update, which also brought forth the Aberrus raid. This raid had one of the shortest races to World First in World of Warcraft history, but this clearly wasn't enough, as the game continued to lose players. This pattern would even carry over to Season 2 of Dragonflight, this time with Mythic Dungeons, which is surprising considering that these dungeons are the bread-and-butter of gearing up at level cap.
The chart that was shared was made by NORATHEDESTROYER, a prominent member of the World of Warcraft subreddit. In the chart that was shown, NORATHEDESTROYER compared the number of players that have completed Mythic Dungeons in Season 2 of Dragonflight Vs. the number of players in Season 1, and things don't look good. According to the chart, Season 2 only saw one week where it had fared better than Season 1. This was only during the Season's second week, mainly due to Dragonflight's inaugural season having an infamously hard affix cocktail. But it would seem that afterward, numbers just continued to drop.
Though these numbers may come across as a surprise, many expected this sort of thing to happen, and many believe that the main culprit of the MMO's ever-decreasing engagement is most likely due to a few surprising external factors. These factors are Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Final Fantasy 16, and Diablo 4, three of the most highly anticipated game releases of 2023. The reason numbers dwindled so greatly was likely due to the fact that players were most likely playing other games.
