Since Sony has reportedly already turned down a Days Gone sequel idea, Bend Studio, meanwhile, was claimed to be developing an original IP live-service game that was eventually shelved. Time will tell what comes next from the studio, but in the meantime, fans may expect to enjoy a polished version of Days Gone on PlayStation 5. So, after all the rumors, Days Gone Remastered was finally confirmed at the PlayStation February 2025 State of Play as a digital-only release for the PS5 and will be available on April 25.
The good news is that if you have already purchased Days Gone on PlayStation 4, you can upgrade to the Remastered version for $10, which is very common for this type of release. If you don't already have it, the remaster will cost you $50. For your money, you get Days Gone upgraded with better textures, shadows, and lighting, increased foliage draw, and support for things like Tempest 3D Audio and VRR.
In addition to enhancing the graphics, Days Gone Remastered is adding new game modes. One of them is Horde Assault, an arcade mode where players will try to obtain a high score by surviving against massive hordes of zombies, with even bigger hordes than in Days Gone's story mode. The mode will come with new playable characters, cosmetics, and more. Gamers also get a Permadeath mode that will photograph players with an exclusive graphic with their trophies and stats as soon as they complete. Both Speedrun and better Photo Mode modes will be supported for gamblers to relish.
Also, some new features will arrive exclusive to the remastered version of Days Gone, including DualSense support and some new accessibility features such as High Contrast mode, Game Speed, UI narration, collectible audio cues, controller remapping, a field of view slider, "and more." The photo mode is also expanded with a time-of-day setting, a three-point lighting system, and new logo options.

The biggest misconception, however, concerns the game's sequel. There have been rumors and stories regarding Days Gone 2, and Sony may already be tempting. They may also be unprepared because their experience with the first part was not particularly positive. Given the community's interest in the sequel and Sony's focus back on narrative-driven single-player games, you might as well hear Bend Studio working on Days Gone 2 in the coming days.
