The sixth mainline installment in Sid Meier's Civilisation series was released in 2016, developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. Six years on, the turn-based strategy game is still going strong and is expanding further with the new Civilisations VI Leaders Pass, beginning with the Great Negotiators pack on 22nd November.
The Great Negotiators Pack contains three new leaders: Abraham Lincoln, Queen Mbande Nzinga, and Sultan Saladin. Lincoln will be familiar to Civilization fans as the 16th President of the United States has appeared in most of the previous titles in the series. However, Teddy Roosevelt represents the United States in the base game. Lincoln's new ability Emancipation Proclamation takes inspiration from the United States' industrial age and the American Civil War. With his ability, Lincoln's "Industrial Zones give +2 Amenities" and he receives a "free Melee unit after constructing Industrial Zones and their buildings". The Melee unit is also available when playing Civilisation VI's Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm DLCs, as well as "Industrial Zones [giving] +3 Loyalty per turn but your Plantations [giving] -2 Loyalty." Finally, Abraham Lincoln's Preserver of the Union agenda "results in him only liking Civilisazions with the same form of Government" as his own.
The second new leader in the Great Negotiators Pack is Kongo's Queen Mbande Nzinga who, with her Decolonization agenda, "likes Civilizations who stick to one continent, but dislikes Civilizations with cities on multiple continents." Her ability is called Queen of Matamba and Ndongo and makes "cities receive +10% Yields if on the same continent as your capital [and] -15% if on another continent."
Finally, there is Sultan Saladin of Arabia. Sultan Saladin "receives bonuses for all of his Combat and Religious units, and dislikes leaders who wage war on followers of his Religion." His ability, The Victorious Military, gives a "+100% Flanking and Support Bonus to all Combat and Religious Units."
As a bonus, players that link their PC, Mac, or IOS device to their 2K Account between 21st November and 24th November can receive Roman leader Julius Caesar for free. Unlike Rome's default leader Trajan, "Caesar is a conqueror." "His dislike of Barbarians in-game is a nod to" his real-world war against the Gauls. Caesar's ability is Veni, Vidi, Vici with which players "receive 200 Gold whenever [they] conquer a city for the first time or 100 Gold when [they] clear a Barbarian Outpost. These Gold amounts increase to 500 after you research Steel."
The Great Negotiators Pack is the first of six DLC packs featuring new historical world leaders. Still to come from the Leaders Pass are the Great Commanders Pack, Rulers of China Pack, Rulers of the Sahara Pack, Great Builders Pack, and the Rulers of England Pack. These packs feature the likes of Ptolemaic Cleopatra of Egypt, Elizabeth I of England, and Suleiman the Magnificent of the Ottoman Empire.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI Leaders Pass: Great Negotiators is out now on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, and PlayStation 4.
