In a recent interview with The Telegraph Sony President Andrew House left open the possibility that classic franchises like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon could return.
House said “In concept, it is something we’ve been thinking about and discussing, and this is a shift for us. We’ve started to say that maybe there isn’t anything wrong with going back and looking at characters that people still talk about, that were a big part of either their childhood or their youth. I definitely wouldn’t close the door on that.”
Spyro the Dragon first released in 1998 followed by two more titles on the original PlayStation. New titles were eventually released on other platforms with the latest title, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, coming out in 2008.
The first Crash Bandicoot released back in 1996 and with it followed three more Crash Bandicoot games on the original PlayStation. The franchise was then sold to Activision in the early 2000s with the last game releasing in 2008 on PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS. Last year rumors spread that Sony purchased Crash Bandicoot from Activision but a spokesperson representing Activision denied the speculation.
For those who've yet to experience the wonderful adventures of these legendary characters you can find these classic titles available for download on the Sony Entertainment Network.
