Those hoping for a new Dead Space game just got a rude awakening, the developers behind the acclaimed survival-horror game and Battlefield: Hardline has closed their doors.

“Our Visceral studio will be ramping down and closing,” stated Electronic Arts‘ Patrick Soderlund in the release. “We’re in the midst of shifting as many of the team as possible to other projects and teams at EA.” Unfortunately, this means that this well-loved developer has now closed its doors.

While this is shocking for many looking back at the developer's recent projects telegraphed a steady decline. Dead Space 3, unlike the previous 2 games, received heavy criticism for taking a more action and cooperative route and didn't reach expected sales; selling 605,000 copies in its first month. Same went for Battlefield: Hardline which didn't reach sale expectations as well.

EA confirmed that the Star Wars project being worked on at the studio would be moving to EA Vancouver. It also has been delayed to 2019's fiscal year.

For those hoping for Dead Space 4 it's likely this franchise will be put into EA's holding cell along with Crysis and Mass Effect
