In an interview with MCV publisher Deep Silver discussed Homefront: The Revolution and its difficult launch.
“You can see in the market at the moment, quality is absolutely king and some big IPs have struggling figures at the moment. We learnt a lot of lessons about what to do going forward. Not just the quality of the product, but when we launch as well.”
“The team at [developer] Dambuster did a fantastic job, With what the team there has done, getting the product patched and so on, the sentiment with consumers has really turned around.
“We’re getting a lot of positive feedback compared to when we launched, so timing was probably the biggest lesson we have learnt there.”
Homefront: The Revolution had a difficult 4-year development cycle. First, it was in development by THQ before the company went bankrupt and the IP was sold to Crytek in 2013, the creators of Crysis. Crytek's financial issues forced the company to sell the IP to Deep Silver who set up Dambuster to continue development.
After it releasing the game faced harsh criticism receiving majority low scores across multiple sites.
Homefront: The Revolution is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
