With news of the new Assassin's Creed: Valhalla flooding the internet, long time fans of the franchise as well as newcomers are growing more and more excited as they eagerly await the new Viking centered RPG from Ubisoft. With the confirmation of viking rap battles, a slew of new gear and gameplay tactics, there is no shortage of information about this upcoming phenomenon. In a way to quell their excitement, one fan took the time to create an extravagant piece that combines Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and the popular God of War (2018), which was also based around Norse myth and weapons. For reference, the original promotional image for Ubisoft's new installment is shown below.
As can be seen, the image shows a group of Vikings travelling by boat on the left side, and a representation of the game's land battles on the right side. In the middle of the image is assumed to be the hero of the new game, whom the player will be able to control in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. As is expected with the release of a new Viking-based game, many fans may have been reminded of the most recent God of War, which took its first steps into the Viking Age just a couple of years ago. With its spectacular gameplay and story, players can only hope that Ubisoft can bring the same quality to the table, if not more. This anticipation led a Twitter user, @BT_BlackThunder, to post his own recreation of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's promotional image, but with a God of War (2018) twist.
The similarities between the two images are clear, showing the eagerness that this fan and countless others are hoping for with the new RPG. Both games boast an explorable open world, putting players in the boots of characters who fight Nordic creatures and even Norse gods. The fanart shows Kratos and his son Atreus rowing a boat through the Lake of the Nine on the left side of the image. In the center is shown Kratos, holding his Leviathan Axe, which is one of the main weapons used within the game. On the right, Kratos is using his infamous Blades of Chaos to defeat enemies on land. This fanart not only recreates the promotional idea from Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, but also gives players an idea of how the upcoming game has already revealed major aspects of the gameplay within the simplistic image from Ubisoft.
The image of the boat confirms that players will be able to use the ship mechanics that were made popular in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and that there will be a variety of weapons for players to choose from when fighting on land, each tailoring to a different playstyle.
@BT_BlackThunder has truly captured not only the feeling of excitement that players first felt about the God of War game when it originally debuted, but has also created a similar feeling for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, making fans even more impatient for the launch of the new game.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is currently confirmed for release by Holiday 2020 for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, XBox One, XBox Series One X and Stadia.
