The First Berserker: Khazan Guide | How To Find The Hound Set

In First Berserker Kazan, there's a very early set called the Hound Set that you can get before the first boss. The two-piece set gives you 5% damage; the three-piece set gives you 20% stamina; the four-piece set gives you 10% damage against beasts, which happens to be your first boss; and the 5-piece set gives you 10% DMG increase. It's a straightforward pickup and might help you get through that first boss.

The First Hound Piece

From the first Blade Nexus you encounter, turn right instead of left, which would take you on towards the story. When you turn right, you enter a backward loop where you come across a yeti that jumps down and attacks you. You need to kill the yeti; once you do, he will drop the Hound Helm. The drops are guaranteed, but you might have to kill him a few times if necessary.

Finding the Second Hound Piece

You want to turn left when you enter a room and see an enemy with a halberd. Once you finish off that enemy, double back and turn left again. Along the way, you can kill additional enemies lying on the ground for money. Continue through the area until you reach a chest. From this chest, you will grab the second piece—the legs—and receive a nice upgrade to your weapon. This chest is easy to miss if you don't check around the corner.

Securing the Third Hound Piece

Next, as you jump down the ledges on the rocks, which you're sure didn't fall off, you will come out into an opening and see another yeti. Once you kill this yeti, look back to your left off the screen; there's a pathway there. From a different angle, you can run through that path. Always check ledges in these new games, as something is often off the edges. 

As you come up the path, you will see a couple of enemies—a sword-wielding guy and a bow-wielding guy. Kill these foes, then move up towards the end of the cliff, where an enemy will try to ambush you as you roll up the cliff. Knock him off or defeat him, and he will drop his legs. Make sure you grab the right ones.

Final Steps to Complete the Set

From the last Blade Nexus before the boss, jump down and follow the path. When you see an enemy jump out in front of you and scream for help, make sure you go right (left will take you to the boss). Enter the cave and explore until you encounter a bear boss, a mini or mini-boss type enemy. You need to kill this bear to obtain the fourth piece—the hands or gloves. 

This will complete your four pieces, and the four-piece set bonus going into your first boss, which is the yeti, gives you a nice bonus for that encounter. The fifth piece cannot be obtained before the first boss; it is dropped by a boar that jumps out and will attack you as you go down the path. This enemy is on the main route and will give you the chest piece. Four pieces for the first boss are quite handy, and that's how you get all five pieces of the Hound Set.
