God of War Will Contain Easter Eggs From Past Games
Kratos can't escape his past
News by Grayshadow on Mar 24, 2018
The latest God of War rose a lot of eyes brows when it first debuts as it was clear that the game wasn't going to be the same as previous entries. In the recent months, Santa Monica and Sony made that apparent with constant updates on the game's combat, story, and new Kratos but that doesn't mean that the Greek warrior can escape his path. In a recent PlayStation Blog, creative director Cory Barlog explained that there are plenty of references to past entries throughout the new game.
The information is limited but Barlog explained that the origins of the franchise led to "homages" and "hallmarks" cropping throughout the game. Things such as climbing, opening chests, and other conscious design choices are littered everywhere that pay tribute to Kratos' many adventures.
Oh yeah. I’m a lunatic when it comes to that stuff. There are secrets and references hidden everywhere. And I mean literally everywhere: We’re talking about physical packaging, menus, load screens when you hit the Options button, and stuff like that…. That’s one of the things I hope for a long time after, people saying “Did you know…?” I think that’s awesome. That’s the fun part about making games. There is a lot of complexity, but that complexity allows us to hide things that are really interesting and some that are really deep cut.
Barlog stated that this not only provides feelings of nostalgia but adds value to the game.
God of War launches on April 20th for PlayStation 4.
