GTA 6 PC Release Will Be More Than A Year After Console
GTA 6 PC release might take around 19 months after the console release.

Take-Two has reassured fans that GTA 6 will be released in the fall. We still don't know a precise date, and the second half of 2025 seems alarmingly empty, as many publishers are no doubt attempting to avoid colliding with what will undoubtedly be the most anticipated game of the year. EA is even prepared to transfer Battlefield 6, which is set to debut sometime next year if it falls under Rockstar's shadow. However, the remaining significant question about GTA 6 is when it will be released on PC.
PC gamers are concerned about the repetition of GTA 5, which was released on PC 19 months after the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions. This was most likely done to ensure that the PC release would coincide with the re-release of the Xbox One and PS4. However, one thing we shouldn't overlook is that there is no official word on a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 just yet since it is only set to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is unexpected since all major releases typically hit every platform at once or, at the very least, come out on PC shortly after.
We don't know much about next-generation consoles yet, but confidential Sony documents indicate that the PS6 will not be released until at least 2027. If that timeline is accurate (and it is the earliest), 19 months after Fall 2025 would be about April 2027. It's quite feasible that Rockstar may release the PC port shortly after the PS6 and new Xbox versions, but this is pure speculation, and the delay could be much shorter, especially given the smaller leaps between generations that we're witnessing currently.
When this issue was discussed during an interview with Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, for whatever reasons, he remained secretive. He merely stated that "Rockstar has historically started with some platforms and then moved to other platforms." Having said that, he emphasized the relevance of the PC in modern gaming. "We have seen PC become a much more important part of what used to be a console business," Zelnick mentioned. "I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue."
It obviously doesn't bother Take-Two much, even if it's indeed 19 months for the GTA 6 to release on PC. Stats don't say that it's going to have a big impact on the game's overall sales as well. GTAV sold 11.2 million copies in its first week on console release, while it took a full month to sell 2 million units on PC. Even though the current highest player count is higher on PC, that's only the later part of the business where modders mostly make money from the game, not the publisher. But we really hope that the PC version won't take such a long delay.
However, with no sight of the PlayStation 6, the next Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales are dropping. But Zelnick believes GTA 6 will help them get back on track. He stated, "When you have a big title in the market, and we have many of them coming, historically, that has sold consoles," Zelnick told IGN. We're not sure about the tariff this year. We don't believe tariffs would be beneficial, but we anticipate a significant increase in console sales in calendar 25 as a result of the release schedule, not just from us but also from others".
