Elden Ring Nightreign Guide | How To Beat Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night) In Boss Fight

A guide on how to beat the Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night) boss in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Game Guide by Groot on  Jun 04, 2025

Augur (Maris, Fathom of Night) is the hardest boss in Elden Ring Nightreign. However, if you know what to do during the fight, you might actually make the boss not so hard. It's just because of how the game works and the lack of a chat system, which is fine.

However, if you're struggling to beat Augur, follow these tips and go in with a full team; you shouldn't have too much trouble with this. Going in at random, on the other hand, just run the relic and try to be more of a backup role. That should help you finish it. Without a doubt, it will take a few tries.

Pre-Fight Preparation

You need to find a treasure that makes you less likely to sleep before you can even start matching people. You'll know that this boss has a mechanic that will make you sleep if you've already tried to fight it. Your character will fall over and take damage when the sleep happens.

Once your character is knocked over, they will lie on the ground for 10 to 15 seconds, letting all the other enemies in the fight hurt them. You won't fall asleep at all if you have the sleep barrier on. You'll still feel sleepy, but not so sleepy that you pass out, so you should wear this.

Either a ranged or a magic weapon is something else that you will need to beat this boss. You will have to attack from far away. You can fight the boss with only physical weapons, but it will take a lot longer, and you'll have to avoid a lot more hits.

Recommended Team Composition

It would really be best to have one Revenant with a ranged weapon, one guardian because of his restraining skills, and then one of the Iron Eyes. There are a lot of different combos you could use, one of which is better than this one, but this is the best one.

This is because, with Revenant and Guardian, you can heal your friends and do that ranged damage if you have Iron Eye or Recluse on. Recluse can also heal, so you should really have one of these heroes on your team.

You should try to have one of these three characters on if you go in with a full stack, like if you're running it with your friends. You can still win the fight if you go in with just randoms, but it will be a lot easier.

Level and Equipment Requirements

You should be level 12 when you start this fight. Levels 12 through 15 will do. You'll want as many flasks as you can get because this boss takes a long time. You're choosing a gold weapon.

There are a lot of upgrades you can get for your health bar during your run. You should also try to get the "resistance to all ailments" update. If you already have this, this will make you even more resistant to sleep.

To get the most out of your run, you should focus on getting health and energy upgrades. But if this one comes up, you should really pay attention to it because it will make you even more resistant to the sleep effects.

Boss Fight Mechanics and Strategy

Basic Combat Approach

If you're going into this boss fight with friends, do not expect to win right away. Instead, work together and know that this is not a boss fight that you can easily win. Yes, you need to take your time. And when you get a ranged weapon, you'll be able to really hurt the boss.

While you're running in close combat, this does show that you can do it. Just be careful not to get hit too quickly. At times, you'll have to do nothing but dodge for about two minutes at a time while you wait for the boss to go and steady up so you can go in.

When the boss stops moving and stands still, it's easy to land critical hits that chip away at his health bar little by little. Yes, it is possible, but it will be a lot easier if you have an archer or mage class.

Grenade Phase

The boss will throw bombs every once in a while. If you're in charge of the rev class, you can pop your ghosts to hide them. If you time your pops just right, the ghost will distract the boss and those exploding barrels, which is a great way to get their attention.

There are many people who believe the Rev class is bad, but you only need to know how to run it. You would have a lot more fun with Iron Eye or the Recluse, but the Revenant is a great class if you already know a lot about it.

Critical Hit Opportunities

The boss can become still at some point. You can quickly land a couple of critical hits on the boss if you're quick enough or close enough. It won't be a big deal if you miss the chance, though; you'll just have to wait until the next step comes up. Pay more attention to avoiding this fight.

Tentacle Mechanics

At some point, tentacles will appear. In fact, they are after your friends. These are annoying, and you should avoid them if you come close to them. Sometimes, you'll walk into them by chance, and they'll hurt you from far away, which is very annoying.

They don't really have anything to do with the big boss fight, though. The boss will sometimes send these limbs out of the ground, but you don't have to go out of your way to fight them. If they get in your way, though, you should definitely kill them.

Stay away from them if you can. They're very strong. What you should do is take it out if your buddy goes down near one. Getting rid of them doesn't take long because they're not hard, but you wouldn't go out of your way to kill those tentacles and then get hit by the boss.

Sleep Mechanic Management

This part of the motor is very important. Finally, the boss will calm down, and he will begin to throw out this sleep. The bar will fill up if you get really close to him. As soon as the boss goes into this sleep state, people run away from him.

But if you wear that treasure, you'll see that the bar that adds to your sleep counter never really fills up. This is just because you have the relic working. If you all have the relic—let's say you go in as a full stack team—you can use this to your advantage to do a lot of damage to the boss.

You've seen that when this boss falls and tries to get you to fall asleep, everyone runs away every time you run this boss with randoms. The reason for this is that they're not running the relic. That damage will be lost if you're not running the treasure.

You'll have to get out of the way of these sleep effects. Because of this, you should ensure that you have sleep resistance on or try to increase your sleep resistance along the way. If you do, you can use all of these different sleep settings to do damage.

Health Management and Positioning

Do not be afraid to run to the back of the map if you become very weak. There, you can rest and get your health back. When you have the Revenant class, you can get rid of these ghosts, which will annoy the boss and keep them busy long enough for you to heal, relax, and get back to work.

If you pop these at the right times, you can even avoid the full effects of these bomb attacks since they're all aimed at your ghost. You can also use this time to heal if you have a warming stone or are trying to cast a healing spell.

Critical Half-Health Mechanic

Getting the boss down to about half health will make him shoot out a huge ball from the middle of the map. Pay close attention to this.

The problem is that if you don't pop this bubble before it hits the ground, it will cause a huge blast that does a lot of damage and almost makes every person on the map fall asleep. Even if you have the protection relic on, this thing will still make you fall asleep, so you need to hit it out of the air.

After you get the boss down to half health, this thing will hit the ground more than once if you don't break it. There will be more than one time when this thing shows up. You should stay as far away from it as possible if you don't have the tools to break it.

But if you do have a ranged weapon or a way to break it, you should try to do so, so that you don't get sleepy. When this thing hits the ground, it stops making you sleepy.

Good thing that if you had the treasure, it wouldn't make you sleep too much, but it would kill you very quickly. However, if you are ready, you can break it and start knocking out the boss as soon as it is broken.

Final Tips and Strategy

Because of this, it's very important to run certain characters before coming in here and having that item on. This boss is based on mechanics. You'll make the boss harder than it needs to be if you aren't ready for how those mechanics work.

Again, the boss enters a state where he tries to make everyone fall asleep. However, since you have the relic on, you can use these times to attack and do damage.

Your chosen teammates, on the other hand, probably didn't know about the feature and didn't have the treasure on, which is why they died in this part. If you wear this treasure, you can attack the boss instead of running away, which is much more powerful.
