Little Devil Inside Release Date Quietly Slips... Again

The mysterious Little Devil Inside might be in hot waters. You may remember the game being showcased on multiple occasions at game conferences. Each time, the game remained vague about when it would materialize and it looks like this trend will continue, as the project has now slipped into 2023.

The last we heard of Little Devil Inside, its latest release date was shown on an Instagram post, of all things, where it stated a "Winter 2022" launch. This is, however, not the first time that the game was a no-show. Previous dates include July 2021 and even further back in 2018. For reference, Little Devil Inside originally launched as a Kickstarter protect, where it grossed just over $300,000 in funds. That drive was back in 2015. There is still a Nintendo Wii U logo on their page; that's how far back we're going. It's safe to say that there won't be a Wii U version anymore.

 

We contacted developer Neostream for details at the end of last year, but haven't heard back from them, at the time of writing.

Now entering its 8th year of development, we still don't know enough about this gloomy action adventure's practical execution. There are a few shots out there of its supernatural nature, with minimal aesthetics, as well as survival gameplay and roguelike elements. Considering how packed 2023 will be with similar games, Little Devil Inside will have to strategize its eventual release, if it's coming.

Being stuck in development limbo doesn't necessarily spell doom, but this wouldn't be the first time that a Kickstarter project vanishes into thin air. As someone who is still waiting for their Nintendo 3DS code for Mighty No. 9, I have firsthand experience with developers not delivering. Seeing the state that the latter released in, there's also something to say for games of this nature that are eventually forced out.

I'm not going to venture as far as saying that Little Devil Inside is going to be a dud, as the gameplay we have seen looks interesting, still. It would, however, be nice to have some more communication on what's happening. Developers have been a lot more upfront about slipping release dates lately and a game going on for eight whole years would very much justify an update.

The last Kickstarter message for Little Devil Inside dates back to June 13, 2020. The game was backed by 5126 pledges.
