With each discovery in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, the webs get more intricate. Little has been said since Insomniac acknowledged it was in development. It seems that Marvel Spider-Man's development team is now thinking about their future game. According to a new job offering from Insomniac Games this week, the game seems to be in the early phases of development.

This job posting was meant to recruit a Senior UX Researcher who will be accountable for overseeing the research process for a AAA title. The successful candidate will be required to work at the Insomniac's Burbank office for a period exceeding three months in order to assist with a project that is currently in the early stages of production.

Marvel's Spider-Man 3, Silk, Venom

Among the titles that Insomniac Games is supposedly working on at the moment, Marvel's Spider-Man 3 fits this description best. After all, Marvel's Wolverine has supposedly been in the works for a while, and the most recent update suggests that, regardless of a few minor roadblocks, the development is proceeding flawlessly.

On the other hand, in 2023, there were speculations that Insomniac had leaked information about a Spider-Man 2 half-sequel featuring Venom as the main playable character, which was planned to be launched this year. With these rumors circulating, it seems doubtful that development on the Venom game will begin any time soon. A recent Insomniac job posting mentions a title that is currently in the planning stages and is scheduled for 2027.

In addition to a fair number of other duties, the Senior UX Researcher position requires the individual to manage the user experience research for a medium-sized project. Since Marvel's Spider-Man 3 will undoubtedly be the most ambitious installment in the Spider-Man trilogy, the idea of this game being a mid-sized project is not possible. A Venom game, on the other hand, is very much likely.

Venom, a medium-sized project, was either postponed or scrapped by Marvel because of Marvel's Wolverine. This is because they would have had to provide more material in the game if Marvel Spider-Man 2 story DLC hadn't been canceled and because Tony Todd, who voiced Venom, tragically passed away. If this role is for the Venom game, then why else would Insomniac mention it for more than three months?

Things, however, get more interesting here. We came across two further job postings for Insomniac Games, seeking a Senior Animator to work remotely and ensure that all traversal animation is created to the exacting standards established by the company's senior animators and animation directors.

In addition to developing high-quality traversal animations for gaming characters, this individual is responsible for supporting the creative narrative vision and meeting technological needs. They will ensure that the animations are in line with artistic direction and technical standards. If Silk is the new playable character in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, her movement aspects will be a little different. She shoots webs from her fingers, and her gameplay will definitely have a few unique twists. Maybe this explains why Insomniac is trying to fill additional positions for Senior Animators specializing in traversal gameplay.

The second position was for a Senior Gameplay Animator. This person would work with the designers and gameplay programmers to provide fresh and exciting boss and traversal battle gameplay experiences. Creating top-notch animations for in-game characters and cinematics while adhering to creative and technical guidelines is part of this profession.

Marvel's Spider-Man 3, Silk, Gameplay

Based on these job postings, it seems that we will be seeing either new or improved traversal gameplay elements in Marvel's Spider-Man 3. It could also be the Venom game fans have been expecting for a while now. Last year, Marvel Spider-Man 2 DLC may have extended the game's release date or maybe canceled it altogether.

Even though many series fans had been hoping for an announcement of the story DLC all year, it took Insomniac Games quite a while to finally say no. If the Venom game is canceled, perhaps Venom will be playable in Marvel Spider-Man 3. Marvel Spider-Man 3 may use all the material that was removed from the story DLC for Marvel Spider-Man 2.

Insomniac's initial goal was to release Marvel's Wolverine in 2026 and Marvel Spider-Man 3 in 2027; however, if you analyze all the job postings by Insomniac's ongoing projects, it seems like there is a possibility of Venom in 2025. However, there might be certain changes since Ted Price, the legend behind so many incredible games, stepped down as the CEO of Insomniac Games, and the three CEOs who replaced him have yet to share any of their views on the upcoming projects.
