Not to give anything away, but if you've played the first two Spider-Man games, you'll know that there are a lot of ways the series can go after Spider-Man 2. After Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ended, there were numerous doubts regarding Spider-Man's role. In the third game, many were concerned that Peter Parker would not even appear. It may seem like Miles Morales will take over at the end of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but guess what? Peter Parker will play a significant role in the next installment.
Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man game, has revealed some information about the coming Marvel's Spider-Man 3 from Insomniac. While hinting at a major role for Peter Parker in the next game, the actor playing the part has played down any fears that his character would play more than just a supporting role.
During an exclusive interview, Yuri Lowenthal was questioned about Peter's position in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, and in answer, he vowed that the character would not be sidelined. "There are very few things that I can say about this game, but you have somehow landed on the one thing that I can answer, and that's that, yes, Peter is not gone." - Lowenthal said. "He will be part of the next game, and he won't be relegated to the couch, I promise".
There have been leaks and teases in the past that have hinted that Spider-Man 3 would have many playable characters, one of whom being Cindy Moon, aka Silk. Gameplay footage purportedly from the next game, which surfaced during the infamous ransomware attack on Insomniac, seems to validate this as well. So there you have it—the most recent update on Marvel's Spider-Man 3.
There's no question that Marvel's Spider-Man 3 will be a PlayStation 6 game, but it's still great to hear some official news, even if it's only a little. Though it's not entirely insignificant, at least Lowenthal is pointing out what seems to be an apparent fact. To be fair, however, it may be challenging for an Insomniac to implement the concept of three playable characters.
Given that Insomniac already had trouble striking a good balance between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the developers are going to have an enormous challenge with this, in my opinion. On the bright side, however, Peter Parker will be involved in all of their future plans, and there may even be more, which is typical for Spider-Man games.
