Nexon has revealed yet another new entry into the Dungeon Fighter (known as Dungeon and Fighter in its native home of Korea) franchise. Titled Overkill, this new look for Dungeon Fighter uses detailed Unreal Engine 4 3D models over sprites, but will still primarily play as a side-scrolling role playing game. Renders and animations were showcased of classic Dungeon Fighter classes, including Brawler, Slayer, Mage, and Gunner. While the game is being designed for PC, there is no mention if it will be a massive multiplayer game, or geared towards a single player experience.
Some fans were slightly surprised by the game, as it at first seems to be competing with Nexon’s other 3D entry, codenamed Project BBQ. However, that game is specifically geared towards 3D action combat, will Overkill will remain locked to a side perspective. It also differentiates itself from Dungeon Fighter Duel, which is strictly a one-on-one fighting game being made by Arc System Works and Eighting.
