GTA 6 will push RAGE to new heights, giving further room for speculation.

The announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6 in December 2023 has sparked a lot of interest in Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games. There have been some wild rumors spreading about Sony looking to buy Take-Two Interactive. This rumor surfaced after the news about Sony's acquisition of FromSoftware's parent company, Kadokawa. However, the rumors about Sony's acquisition of Take-Two Interactive are false.
The reason is that Sony has officially commented on the matter, saying that they are not interested in such an acquisition, nor have they made any such movements. They also have stated that they don't even know where the rumors started. Now, big acquisitions of this magnitude are nothing new. We saw Microsoft gobble up Bethesda not too long ago, and really, anything can occur at any moment. So, things might still be on the table if extremely unlikely.
However, speaking further on Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games, it seems that there have been quite a few leaks on one of their most anticipated games, GTA 6. From the LinkedIn profile of a Principal Engine Programmer at Rockstar Games, we learned that GTA 6 is launching on both PC and consoles and some information on the game's graphics. The post from which this came has been made private now, lending more credibility to the leaks.
The post initially discussed the use of RAGE, Rockstar's in-house engine, among other things. But to reorient, Woods is an experienced developer who has been working on the project since 2020 and was also involved in the recent Spider-Man game. Among the many things mentioned in that post, the notable ones were RTGI and procedural generation. RTGI, standing for Ray Tracing, Global Illumination, has been used in many amazing-looking games such as Alan Wake 2. Now, it is likely that it will also be in GTA 6. The developer also mentioned that GTA 6 will push RAGE to new heights, giving further room for speculation.
The mention of procedural generation has also sparked debate within the gaming communities, with some different theories on its use. Some theorize that it might have some larger purpose and presence in the game, like being used for the interior of buildings, lending credence to the idea that almost all the buildings in the game will be accessible. Others dispute this, saying the statement is like saying, "The sky is blue," as procedural generation could just mean its use for developmental purposes. Many games actually do this, whether it be for trees, bushes, and other environmental features or various objects around the map to make it feel more populated.
Only time will tell, however, as more details are unlikely to be shared until at least December 4, when many think the trailer will drop alongside a big PlayStation event. However, this doesn't fit too well with Take-Two's schedule, where they also plan on releasing the trailer for the new Mafia game in early December. Regardless, GTA 6 is still releasing in Autumn 2025, with its PC launch probably coming some 6-14 months later.
