Nintendo Narrows Down Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Window

A new Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer or release date could be dropped at any time without warning.

Fans of Hollow Knight may finally be getting close to when Hollow Knight: Silksong will be out. A more specific release window is starting to take shape, with three months between June 6, 2025, and September 18, 2025. This is thanks to a recent update on the Japanese Nintendo Store and upcoming gaming conventions, and fans are so excited about this new window.

This excitement began this week when the Japanese Nintendo Store divided its software into three groups: games coming out on June 5, games coming out after June 6, and games whose release dates have not been set yet. Interestingly, Hollow Knight: Silksong was put in the "after June 6" group. In this case, it looks like Nintendo does have a release date in mind, and it's no longer pure speculation.

This classification keeps Hollow Knight: Silksong out of the vague "TBD" pile, which may not seem like a big deal. The fact that it was done on purpose suggests that Nintendo and Team Cherry have a rough plan.

This also fits with Team Cherry's long-held position that Silksong should be released at the same time on all platforms that support it. It seems unlikely, if not impossible, that the game would come out before June 6 and then later on Switch 2. This is especially true since the goal has always been for all platforms to be equal.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at the Game Worlds exhibition at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) starting September 18, 2025. This is more fuel for the fire. Many people think that Silksong will be available to everyone before that date because this exhibit usually doesn't have games that haven't been released yet.

That being said, there are still some gaps in knowledge. We don't know what part of the game will be playable at the show yet, or even what platform it will be on. Since game exhibits often show demo slices or carefully chosen parts, it's not likely that the whole game will be left out for everyone to play all day, but it's not impossible either.

TomNook5085 on Reddit went the extra mile and called ACMI to find out if Silksong would be out before the exhibit opens. The museum didn't give a clear answer, but they did ask fans to join their mailing list, which could mean that more information about Silksong is on the way.

One more reason to keep an eye on this show? While covering the ACMI event, an internet post previously showed Hornet sprite art from Silksong that hadn't been released yet. That kind of publicity usually comes with something important.

Given the update to the Nintendo Store and the date of ACMI's exhibit, Hollow Knight: Silksong will most likely be released between June 6 and September 18, 2025. We've heard "coming soon" for years, but that 104-day window is much shorter, as there was a hint on the Nintendo website about the Silksong Release.

Jeff Keighley, host of Summer Game Fest and Gamescom, has said he would like to break the Silksong news, but the Xbox Games Showcase may still be the best place for it to happen. Team Cherry has worked with Xbox on previous reveal events, and this year's event is already looking great. Games like The Outer Worlds 2 and Gears of War E-Day are set to be the main attractions.

It's also important to note that the Xbox Showcase is on the same day as the video creator's birthday. He's kind of jokingly hoping that his partner forgets, because revealing the release date for Silksong is the perfect way to start a romance.

Most fans don't think Gamescom in August will happen, even though Jeff Keighley runs this show. Still, Gamescom tends to favor big AAA publishers and franchises. At the same time, Summer Game Fest or even BitSummit have more surprises from small indie developers.

BitSummit, the Japanese indie show, might still have something extra to offer, though. Last year, Team Cherry was seen there, and while global trailers don't usually drop at that event, they have done interviews there. In that case, fans could learn a lot about how Silksong was made, even if the game has already come out.

Hollow Knight: Silksong seems closer than ever after years of radio silence and sneak peeks. The Nintendo Store's subtle grouping, ACMI's plans for exhibitions, and the list of big gaming events this summer all make it feel like we're finally getting close to the end.

Now, everyone is looking forward to the Xbox Showcase and Summer Game Fest, where Team Cherry could finally make it official. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed, keeping an eye on the calendar, and hoping that "Newsuesday" comes sooner rather than later.
