Pewdiepie Signs Exclusive Live Streaming Deal with YouTube

Pewdiepie will only stream on YouTube

Felix Kjellberg, best known as PewdiePie, is one of the biggest internet celebrities with over 100 million subscribers on YouTube. Starting off as a gaming channel PewdiePie branched out to Daily Vlogs, music, and commentary on memes but still uploads gaming content. Now, the icon of YouTube has signed a deal to only stream on YouTube.

According to an official press release:

“YouTube has been my home for over a decade now and live streaming on the platform feels like a natural fit as I continue to look for new ways to create content and interact with fans worldwide,” Kjellberg said. “Live streaming is something I'm focusing a lot on in 2020 and beyond, so to be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future.”

PewdiePie joins CouRageLachlanLazarBeamMuselkTypical Gamer, and Valkyrae who also signed exclusive deals with YouTube.

Streaming exclusive contracts are becoming increasingly more common among big content creators. With one of the biggest being Ninja's deal with Microsoft to stream on Mixer exclusively. After which more streaming platforms have been attracting content creators using similar methods, either to get new content creators or keep existing ones on their platform.
