Nintendo's September Direct event has become almost a custom at this point, and several sources indicate that it will take place again this year. Many fans cringe at the word 'leak,' but the truth is that a Nintendo Direct is likely to happen in September, based on past patterns and how Nintendo typically operates, as well as what is expected to be announced at the event.

According to the newest information, Nintendo will hold a Direct in the second week of September, most likely on September 11th or 12th. They plan to share some big things during this event. It's okay to roll your eyes at yet another Nintendo Direct rumor, but this one is guaranteed to happen.

A new report suggests that Nintendo's Direct will take place between September 11 and 12, which differs from Nintendo's usual schedule, which typically occurs on Tuesday through Thursday. It is unlikely that there would be a Friday Direct, but it's not impossible. Pointing out that differences in time zones can make the time appear to span two days.

There is speculation that Nintendo might host more than one event this month, despite the September general Direct being a likely certainty. As new reports suggest, there could be up to three events: a Mario 40th anniversary show, a general Direct, and a Metroid Prime 4 Direct.

Nintendo has a lot going on, so this makes sense. Mario's 35th birthday had its own Direct in 2020, so it's not out of the question that the 40th will also have a special event. Still, Nintendo hasn't said whether Mario will be part of the September general Direct or if it will be its own presentation later that month.

Fans will have a lot to look forward to if the leaks are true. It has been reported that a remake of Super Mario Galaxy 2 could be released in September, similar to the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection in 2020. It would be great if a surprise release were to happen on Mario's birthday.

Metroid is also likely to be the main event. It has been said for a long time that both Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will get remastered forms. Most people think that Nintendo might release them online during the Direct and then release physical copies later, similar to how Metroid Prime Remastered was released.

These games would also make great prequels to Metroid Prime 4, which many people expect to release later this year, possibly in November or December, during the holiday season. New reports also provided hints about several major third-party games.

Specifically, Red Dead Redemption 2, which is reportedly Switch-bound, but it's unclear whether Rockstar will reveal this at the Direct or through its own announcement. Activision has a legally binding agreement to bring the Call of Duty series to Switch 2. Other notable titles, such as Sea of Thieves, Doom: The Dark Ages, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and even Call of Duty, could also appear.

Concerning Nintendo's own well-known series, a lot of rumors are going around about Zelda. As the series turns 40 years old next year, fans are looking for something, like a hint at a new Ocarina of Time game or long-awaited ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Many people think that at least one Zelda-related news item will be made, possibly along with a firm release date for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.

There are also rumors that more Kirby games, like Kirby Planet Robobot, will be released on Switch. At the same time, Switch 2 games like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Hades II are finally going to have release dates announced. Even smaller, but highly anticipated games, like Silksong, which is set to release on September 4, could receive extra attention. This means that Nintendo fans will have a hectic month.

It's always best to be skeptical of rumors, but Nintendo Direct September is hard to ignore. All signs point to a big Nintendo Direct in the second week of September. People are very excited about what could be Nintendo's most important show of the year, whether it's Mario, Metroid, Zelda, or a surprise third-party megaton.

Save the dates for September 11th or 12th for now, and get ready for a wave of news that could change the holiday season and the future of the Switch 2.
