Stellar Blade PC Release Could Blow Past Ghost of Tsushima

From Steam Deck support to a full expansion and zero PSN requirements, Stellar Blade's PC debut might be Sony's biggest port yet.

In a move that's bound to get PC gamers buzzing, Stellar Blade is officially headed to PC, and not just as a straight port. Sony appears to be gearing up for a full-featured release, dubbed the "Complete Edition," and it's packing a whole lot more than just the base game. While there was already speculation about a PC version coming eventually, thanks to past patterns with PlayStation exclusives, the confirmation arrived a bit earlier than expected, thanks to what appears to be an accidental leak on PlayStation's own YouTube channel.

The now-removed trailer showed Stellar Blade: Complete Edition with a clear release date: June 11, 2025. That's a big jump from the earlier holdout date of June 30. Notably, the trailer also showed that the game will have extra material like new skins, a new boss, and an expansion called "Twin Sisters." It's also expected to be available on both PlayStation 5 and PC simultaneously, which is increasingly becoming Sony's strategy to expand its reach beyond console hardware.

From what I've seen so far, the PC version of Stellar Blade looks like it won't be a lazy port. Instead, it's shaping up to be a showcase release for PC-specific features. Expect DLSS, FSR, ultra-wide monitor support, unlocked frame rates, DualSense controller integration, and enhanced resolution textures. But perhaps most importantly for many portable PC gamers, the game will be Steam Deck verified.

That last part is a big deal. A short promotional clip was shared via the official Stellar Blade Twitter account showing the game running smoothly on the Steam Deck. While Twitter videos aren't the best benchmark of real performance, it was clear enough to indicate that Shift Up has worked to optimize this version.

Keep in mind that the Steam Deck runs on hardware closer to the PlayStation 4 than the PS5, so getting this kind of fidelity and performance means serious attention went into scaling. Considering the original version was PS5-exclusive, this is impressive.

It's also in line with what was mentioned back when Stellar Blade was first confirmed for PC. Shift Up and Sony stated that the game would support portable PC gaming platforms. The Steam Deck is currently the most prominent in that space, so having that kind of optimization bodes well for accessibility and broader adoption among PC players.

Now, in terms of market impact, I think Stellar Blade has the potential to be one of Sony's most successful PC releases yet, possibly only trailing Helldivers 2. If it sticks the landing technically, this could outperform previous PlayStation-to-PC ports like The Last of Us Part I, God of War (2018), and even Ghost of Tsushima.

That might sound ambitious, but let me explain why. First, Sony is no longer requiring PSN account linking for Stellar Blade, a huge reversal from the controversy surrounding Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. That alone eliminates a major barrier to entry for a lot of users in unsupported regions.

Second, the timing is perfect. With a mid-to-late June release date, Stellar Blade will arrive during a relatively quiet period. There aren't any major multi-platform titles dropping then. Even Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, another PlayStation exclusive, won't arrive until late 2025 and will initially be PS5-only. That leaves Stellar Blade with a clear runway to dominate conversations and downloads for a while.

But what might push this even further is the inevitable buzz from social media. The original release of Stellar Blade on PS5 already created waves online due to its visual presentation, flashy combat, and the character design of its protagonist, Eve.

You can expect a second wave of virality when the modding community gets their hands on the PC version. Like it or not, mods generate memes, reels, TikToks, and viral clips, exactly the kind of grassroots marketing that sells games in 2025.

Even without relying on mods, Stellar Blade already checks the boxes for success: action-packed gameplay, stylish presentation, and broad appeal. But if it's paired with a strong PC release that scales well even on mid-range hardware and handhelds like the Steam Deck, then it could easily cross the kind of numbers we've seen only from Sony's most successful ports.

For reference, Ghost of Tsushima recently peaked at around 77,000 concurrent players on Steam during its debut week, making it one of the best launches for a Sony-published title outside of Helldivers 2 (which reached over 400,000 concurrent players). If Stellar Blade can clear even 60,000 on launch, it'll be considered a strong success. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 80,000 to 90,000, especially if it launches with a fair price and positive early reviews.

Price remains an open question. While the trailer said "pre-order now," pricing wasn't revealed. Based on Sony's trends, I expect it to launch at $59.99. However, if they view this as a premium PC release, they may price it at $69.99. Either way, that information should be revealed soon when the Steam page goes live.

If the game lives up to its current promises, fully optimized, feature-rich, and polished, it won't just be another PC port. It could be the next major benchmark for Sony's PC publishing strategy. It's already clear that the old novelty of "PlayStation games on PC" has worn off; now, these titles need to stand on their own merit. Stellar Blade looks like it's ready to do just that.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this one, especially as we get closer to June 11. Let me know what you think. Are you planning to pick it up on PC? Do you think it can outperform other PlayStation ports? However you feel, this is one of those games that could quietly dominate the summer and possibly beyond.
