Tales of Xillia Remaster Possibly Leaked After Bandai Namco Removes Video
A quietly removed promotional clip hints at a modern revival of the divisive PS3-era Tales entry, with fans now speculating on what quality-of-life upgrades could transform it.

Bandai Namco may have just told everyone about its next Tales remaster, and it wasn't in a press statement. Instead, a planned YouTube video was released quietly and then taken down just as quickly. How did people figure out it was about Tales of Xillia? It had a sketch from Tales of Xillia as its thumbnail. Even though the video was supposed to come out on August 18, fans think that the secret is already out.
Some people don't like Tales of Xillia as much as other games in the long-running JRPG series. It came out in Japan in 2011 and around the world in 2013. It had two main characters, Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, a better Linear Motion Battle System, and a skill-tree development system. Some people loved how fluid the fighting was, while others, like the person who spoke in our source transcript, "just didn't vibe" with the characters or designs.

But that's the great thing about a remaster: it gives you a second chance to fix problems that have been there for a while, add new features that make life easier, and give the game a clean new life. And these patches have been Bandai Namco's way of making things right. The company promised to do better after the Tales of Symphonia remake mess.
Tales of Graces f Remastered, which came out in January 2025, showed that they can do what they say they can do. The original game was extremely messy, so the remaster wasn't easy either, but it worked well on all platforms. It won't be an easy port if Xillia is next. The PS3's notorious "Cell" design has always made it very hard to bring games forward. We can make a good revival possible with current development pipelines, like the ones used for Graces f and Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition.
There are already leaked Czech and Slovak store listings for Tales of Xillia Remastered that show it for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch. A PC version is probably also in the works. Some of the reports even point to a two-game bundle with Tales of Xillia 2, similar to the Symphonia Chronicles deal from earlier. Putting the sequel out at the same time would be a smart move for Bandai Namco, since the first game is still stuck on PS3.
The fans aren't just guessing. It was recently noticed that Xillia and Xillia 2 were recently taken off of PSN, which is often a sign that the games will be released again soon. Others are already talking about how the remaster could change the balance of battle, update the graphics, or add more translation options.
We will not have to wait very long. August 18 is coming up quickly, and if this "accidental" leak is any indication, Bandai Namco's official reveal could be more than just another remaster news. It could be the time that one of the series' most controversial games becomes a modern JRPG hit.
