Techland Clarifies Dying Light 2's Completion Time Against Reception
It won't take 500 hours to beat Dying Light 2
News by Grayshadow on Jan 11, 2022
Long games aren't a bad thing but not many have the time to complete 30-hour games. Finding the right balance is necessary as condensed experiences can be more favorable than artificially longer experiences but games that are too short can easily be dismissed. So when Techland revealed you would need 500 hours to beat Dying Light 2 many were alarmed about the length but Techland decided to clarify this post.
Players will need around 20 hours to beat the game, 80 hours to beat all the main and side missions, and 500 hours to get everything in the game. Now this is an estimate as the level of skill does play a major role, most experienced games will likely complete the game in 15 hours given the calculation by Techland. We also know that Dying Light 2 will include multiple paths and narrative options so replayability is highly encouraged.
Regardless some may see this as more bang for their bucks and others too long. It's a matter of perspective but given Dying Light 2's sheer amount of content and the developer diaries provided through Dying 2 Know the developers worked really hard to create an outstanding experience.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human, published by Techland, launches on February 4, 2022, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch (Cloud Version).
