The announcement of The Witcher Remake by CD Projekt RED today coincides with the 15th anniversary of the release of the original Witcher game. The studio has also revealed some of the remake's initial elements.

With The Witcher, CD Projekt RED got its start. Since it was our first video game, a lot of weight was on our shoulders. According to Adam Badowski, Head of Studio at CD Projekt RED, going back to this area and upgrading the game for the new generation of players to experience it is just as huge, if not greater. Because Fool's Theory's staff members have worked on The Witcher games in the past, working with them on this project is equally as thrilling.

They're familiar with the original work, understand how eager fans are for the remake to be realized, and have shown themselves capable of creating games of exceptional quality and scope. Nevertheless, I am sure the anticipation will be well justified since it will be some time before we can provide any more information or content from the game.

That I was able to reconnect with some of the developers I had worked with on The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 is a great bonus. Especially when it's a recreation of a project that's really dear to us, said Jakub Rokosz, CEO of Fool's Theory. We're thrilled to work with CD Projekt RED on this next installment in the critically acclaimed Witcher series.

The remake, codenamed "Canis Majoris" at the studio's Strategy Update in early October, is a contemporary reworking of CD Projekt RED's 2007 role-playing game The Witcher, the first installment in the studio's highly praised RPG trilogy. Unreal Engine 5 will be used for the game's development, and the toolset CDPR is making for the new Witcher tale will be implemented.

Fool's Theory, a firm specializing in creating role-playing video games, is only getting started on the project now. Many seasoned programmers from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been brought on board, and CD Projekt RED oversees all creative direction.
