What's with the PlayStation 5 Third-Party Exclusives Games?

The rumor that PlayStation's third-party exclusive arrangements impacted games may not have been as widespread as first thought.

Over the last few weeks, there have been talks about some publishers not being able to meet sales targets due to their games being exclusive to PlayStation 5. However, the idea that PlayStation 5 exclusive games are hurting publishers with their sales has been refuted by sales data, particularly with the Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Since its launch on October 7, Silent Hill 2 Remake had 78% of European sales on PS5 and 22% on PC. The PS5's superiority is obvious, even though a spike in high-spec PC requirements may have impacted sales on PC. Final Fantasy XVI follows a similar pattern; despite early worries about PlayStation 5 exclusivity, sales were underwhelming on PC.

The rumor that PlayStation's third-party exclusive arrangements impacted games may not have been as widespread as first thought. PlayStation fans have a history of showing their support for quality games. The size of the platform emphasizes the advantages of being there, and Silent Hill 2 makes a strong point as well.

For PlayStation 5 exclusive titles, PlayStation deals are always a good idea for single-player games, and third-party publishers can utilize this tool to boost their sales. For multiplayer games, however, it would be better suited to a cross-platform strategy.

Even though PC releases are being considered by studios like ShiftUp for Stellar Blade, the platform's compatibility with full-priced games is still unknown. Of course, we'll see what happens with Stellar Blade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth since both are single-player games. But the hype behind both these games might push the sales high on PC.

Whether or not the PC releases will have the desired effect, prompting other developers to reconsider their stance on third-party exclusive licensing deals. Whatever happens, I suppose, is something that only time can reveal. I don't think there will be much of a change with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but I could see Stellar Blade making more of an impact with a PC debut later on.
