BLEACH Rebirth of Souls Review

For a very long time, fans have harbored the desire to see the anime series Bleach translated into a video game in its entirety. Bleach's gaming history has been erratic, with excellent titles like the Heat the Soul series and less impressive entries like Soul Resurrección. While the anime has triumphantly returned with Thousand-Year Blood War, Bleach's gaming history remains unpredictable.

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls is published by Bandai Namco and developed by Tamsoft, a well-known studio for their flamboyant action games, including Senran Kagura and OneeChanbara. Their prior experience with fast-paced action made them a great fit for the position of leading a Bleach fighting game.

On the other hand, given Bleach's extensive history and the rapid-fire nature of its conflicts, the objective was to effectively capture the essence of the property while simultaneously developing a game that is interesting for both casual and competitive gamers.

Instead of simply reiterating an arc from the anime, BLEACH Rebirth of Souls features its own "what if" plot. This plot is centered on time shifts, which is why characters from different times in the series interact unexpectedly. It paves the way for confrontations that were once never thought of, like Rukia against Ichigo prior to the Soul Society and Grimmjow against Unohana following the Blood War. The story part is divided into several chapters, each with its own story arc. 

Each arc has its own unique challenges through which a new character is brought in at the center of the story. One chapter, for instance, concentrates on Ichigo's distortions and interactions with many incarnations of himself, while another talks about the efforts or works of the Soul Society captains trying to restore order in the chaos. Somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, the fast-paced action of Heat the Soul and keeping the freeform mobility of titles such as Soul Resurrection and Rebirth of Souls is a game. Conversely, it lacks the same degree of accuracy and finesse as the best fighting games and sometimes feels more relaxed than is required.

The game does a fantastic job of capturing the rage and speed of the fighting, particularly in relation to the anime. The Flash Steps are just as quick and evasive as they appear on the show, and the Bankai transformations are just as powerful as they should be. A few of the fights in the anime, on the other hand, are significantly dependent on strategies, deception, and special ability counters, which are characteristics that the game does not always replicate. 

Instead, battles may occasionally come down to who can spam the most successful actions rather than smart countermeasures or prepared approaches. This may be a disadvantage for those who want a truer fighting representation, given that battles may sometimes come down to who can spam the most effective actions.

Still, the ensemble of characters falls short of the ideal balance. Some techniques achieve great success because some fighters' moves are too simple to copy. Still, the game's downsides would probably include an unbalanced framework, occasional misleading shots, and a very extensive grinding unlocking system that may detract from the entire experience. Some house rules might be annoying for hardcore fans, but casual or newcomers to the game would appreciate its spectacle and easy-going nature.

Overall, BLEACH Rebirth of Souls lives up to the expectations of those anxious about a Bleach game featuring some tussles and realistic portrayals of the characters. It's not the most awesome Bleach experience to date, but it remains a worthy addition to the masterpiece list of games in the Bleach portfolio.
