To get to the real ending of The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, you need to complete various secret, unlabeled quests in different time periods.
If you just rush to the final area, you will get stuck with a bad or incomplete ending. This guide shows you exactly how to set up the true ending and access the postgame content.
Before You Start
Play through the main story normally until you need to find a needle for your magic compass in the Age of Safekeeping. The game will send you to Mount Phoenix in the Age of Reconstruction.
Once you clear that dungeon, the game gives you the choice to go straight to the Northern Tower to fight the final boss in the Age of Safekeeping. Do not go there yet because going straight to the tower triggers the bad ending in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

Step #1: Meet the Myū Sages
To start the true ending path, travel to Hitoyori village in the Age of Budding. Walk into the center of town to trigger a scene. After the scene plays, go directly to Lyudmila's house to pick up an item called the Lustrous Bell.
With the bell in hand, you must track down three Myū Sages hidden across three different eras. You can talk to the cat quest NPC in each era to see their exact spots on your map, but you can find them directly in these areas.
In the Age of Budding, look inside the Great Tree. In the Age of Reconstruction, look inside Mount Phoenix. In the Age of Magic, look inside the Geared Ruins.
Keep in mind that the Geared Ruins entrance stays locked until you have successfully spoken to the other two sages in the Age of Budding and the Age of Reconstruction.
Step #2: Complete Unmarked Quests
Before you can move forward with the sages, you must trigger the first part of several hidden quests by visiting three eras. In the Age of Budding, watch the cutscene in the center of town, then walk down to the item shop to watch a second scene in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
In the Age of Magic, talk to Fausta and Calotesia's to help them out, and then head up to the manor near the end of the area and speak with Ikarus.
In the Age of Reconstruction, find Heurich and help him defend the settlement called Little Hope in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

Step #3: Find the Leytstaf
While you are still in the Age of Reconstruction, head into the local tavern. A patron inside will tell you that a section of the water ruins collapsed.
Go to the water ruins and look at sublevel one to find a brand new path that goes much deeper into the structure. Follow this path to the very end to claim the level three sword, which is called the Leytstaf.
You absolutely need this weapon to unlock the true ending path. If you take the Leytstaf and use its charged attack to destroy the boss in the Northern Tower right now, you will only trigger the good ending, not the true ending in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
Step #4: Advance the Hidden Quests
Once you have gathered the three Myū Sages and have the Leytstaf sword in your inventory, the second half of the hidden quests will activate. You must visit the eras again in order.
First, in the Age of Budding, go back to Lyudmila's house to start the next phase. This will open up brand new purple markers on your world map. Follow these markers to clear the new dungeon and finish the story events back in Hitoyori.
Next, in the Age of Magic, warp over to the building that is now labeled as Mao and Carter's house and grab the key item sitting inside. Go to the Northern Tower in this era, ride the elevator down, and then take it back up to find a research assistant in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
He will mention he dropped his key, which you can find by walking over to the eastern section of the first floor. Watch the scene below, and then head to the western border of the southern caves to complete a quick escort task in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
After that, in the Age of Reconstruction, go to the ruins of Lyudmila's and Mao's house to run a series of simple fetch errands for the doctor and Calotesia's by following the new map indicators.

Finally, in the Age of Safekeeping, head straight to the western gates of the Kingdom of Huther to trigger the next major story scenes.
Step #5: Gather the Villagers
After the major story scenes play out, you must travel across the four eras one last time to speak with specific characters. Talk to Leyka at the orphanage, talk to Diona at the doctor's house, and talk to Heurich at the tavern.
You also need to talk to Fausta and Marne at the Formanant Institute. You can optionally stop by Ikarus's manor for an extra story scene.
Finally, talk to Goyo at Lyudmila's house in the Age of Budding. Once you finish all these conversations, enter Princess Huria's bedroom in the Age of Safekeeping to fully prepare for the final battle in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
Step #6: The Final Boss Strategy
Head to the Northern Tower in the Age of Safekeeping to face the true final boss. To successfully trigger the true ending during this battle, do not attack the boss normally.
Instead, you must use a Moon Mirror shield to execute perfect guards against its attacks several times. Equipping the Discerning Monocle accessory makes pulling off these perfect guards much easier.
You can earn this accessory by completing a side mission called Wonderful Friends, which is handed out by Marne in the Age of Reconstruction in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

Accessing the Postgame Quest
After the true ending credits roll, you can jump right into the postgame content. To start the postgame quest line, you must visit the exact same spots where you found the three Myū Sages during the main game and speak with them again.
To advance past this point and reach the ultimate final boss of the game, you must hunt down and rescue standard cats hidden throughout the world in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
You do not need to find all 50 cats to finish this quest line because collecting a total of 34 cats is enough to unlock the final path.
