The 2025 ASUS ROG Strix G16 blends a small, portable form factor with desktop-level performance. With AMD's Ryzen 9 9955HX3D APU and NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, it achieves real-world frame rates and significant benchmarks.

The G16 is designed for intense multitasking and serious gaming, as seen by its strong cooling system and brilliant Nebula IPS display.

Premium Design and Build

The G16's chassis features clean lines and a subtle ROG Nebula logo on the lid. It is available in classic black or with neon green accents, offering a balance of bold and subtle styles. Liquid metal and full-width heat sinks are utilized in the tri-fan cooling system, and surrounding vents ensure adequate airflow.

The laptop is nonetheless manageably thin despite its powerful internal components, which makes it convenient to transport between your workplace and your preferred gaming location.

Immersive Nebula IPS Display

You'll appreciate the 16 in, 2.5K IPS Nebula display for both gaming and content creation. With a response time of 3ms and a refresh rate of 240 Hz, 100% DCI‑P3 coverage, and a 90% screen‑to‑body ratio, every frame looks sharp and fluid.

Whether you're tracking fast‑moving targets or editing high‑resolution footage, the screen keeps up with minimal motion blur and vibrant colors.

Responsive Keyboard and Trackpad

The RGB backlit chicklet keyboard offers programmable lighting zones through Armory Crate. We enjoyed the smooth key travel and dedicated Co‑Pilot key, which you can customize for quick access to performance profiles.

Below the keyboard, the oversized trackpad glides effortlessly, and a hidden number pad can be activated with a press and hold—perfect for data entry without sacrificing precision.

Comprehensive I/O for Every Need

You'll find two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type‑A ports on the right and, on the left, the power input, Gigabit Ethernet, full‑size HDMI 2.1, dual USB 4 (40 Gbps), and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Whether you're connecting to high‑speed peripherals, external monitors, or wired networks, the G16 has you covered.

Unmatched CPU Performance

At its heart lies the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 3D APU, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads, with a boost clock of up to 5.4GHz. The 3D V-Cache provides 144MB of total cache, ensuring rapid access to data-intensive workloads.

In Armory Crate's Turbo mode, we recorded sustained power limits of 120W with 10‑second peaks up to 140W—far exceeding the advertised 75W manual power limit.

Desktop‑Class GPU Power

The laptop GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB GDDR7 VRAM and a configurable TGP up to 140 W via ROG Boost. We pushed the GPU core by +200 MHz and memory by +300 MHz, achieving consistent frame rates in demanding titles.

The combination of high TGP and efficient cooling keeps thermals in check even under prolonged load.

Synthetic Benchmarks

Our Geekbench 6 tests yielded single-core scores of 3,880 and multi-core scores of 6,620 in Turbo mode. Cinebench R24 hit 127 in single‑core and 2,115 in multi‑core, outpacing many desktop CPUs.

On the GPU side, 3DMark Time Spy reached 16,915, and Port Royal ray tracing scored 11,368—impressive marks for a mobile system.

Real‑World Gaming Performance

In Cyberpunk 2077 at 1600p Ultra with DLSS 4 Quality, you'll see around 85 fps in dense city areas. Enabling Ray Tracing Ultra drops performance to the mid-50fps range, but with DLSS 4 set to Auto and Frame Gen ×4, averages exceed 100fps. Spider‑Man 2 at 1600p Very High with DLSS Quality holds above 90 fps during intense battles.

In Marvel Rivals at 1600p Ultra with DLSS Balance, we saw 108 fps, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider's built‑in benchmark returned 136 fps. Even demanding titles like The Last of Us Part II and Doom: The Dark Ages ran smoothly at 64fps and 78fps, respectively, without additional frame generation.

Battery Life and Fast Charging

The 90Wh battery supports fast charging, reaching 50% capacity in just 30 minutes with the included charger. While gaming on battery will limit performance, you can still handle light tasks for several hours away from an outlet.

Final Thoughts

With its 16‑core Ryzen 9 9955HX 3D APU, RTX 5070 Ti GPU, high‑refresh display, and advanced cooling, the 2025 ROG Strix G16 is a formidable laptop for gaming and productivity.

We found its performance to be comparable to that of desktop computers, and you'll appreciate the configurable lighting, snappy keyboard, and extensive networking capabilities. Whether you're a creative professional or a competitive gamer, the G16 delivers on all levels.
