Control Resonant gives Dylan Faden plenty of ways to customize his appearance. Instead of limiting you to complete costumes, the game lets you mix and match different clothing and appearance items across several customization slots.

CONTROL Resonant Customizing Character

Outfit items can be earned through the main story, Side Stories, Resonant encounters, Testing Facilities, SHÜM challenges, Vendors, and special edition or promotional rewards. This guide covers the main outfits and outfit items available in Control Resonant and explains how to unlock them.

How to Change Outfits

You can change Dylan's appearance by interacting with a Wardrobe. Wardrobes are marked with a jacket icon on the map and can be found at several safe locations throughout Manhattan.

Dylan's customization is divided into six slots:

Top Layer
Hair
Base Layer
Facial Hair
Accessories
Body and Face

You can equip individual items from different sets, allowing you to create your own combination rather than being restricted to a single outfit. Outfit items are cosmetic and do not affect Dylan's combat stats.

All Story Outfits

Several outfit items are unlocked simply by progressing through the main story.

Agent Uniform

How to Unlock: Complete Evacuation Procedures.

The Agent Uniform is one of the earliest major outfit rewards in the game. Completing the mission adds the outfit to Dylan's available customization options.

Prime Candidate Restraint Suit

CONTROL Resonant Prime Candidate Restraint Suit

How to Unlock: Complete Recursions and Iterations.

This outfit is awarded during the main story as Dylan investigates the Underpass and the strange phenomena affecting the area.

Casual Outfit

How to Unlock: Complete the main story.

The standard Casual Outfit becomes available after completing the campaign.

All Side Story Outfits

Optional content is another major source of outfit items.

Aramid Work Clothes

How to Unlock: Complete Panopticon Service Request.

Finish the Side Story involving the Altered Items in the Panopticon to receive the Aramid Work Clothes.

Sensory Restraint Hood

How to Unlock: Complete Crossing the Threshold.

Your choice during the Side Story affects the reward. Choose to trust Wilson and carry AVP-3 yourself to receive the Sensory Restraint Hood.

Plate Carrier M1

How to Unlock: Complete Urban Survival.

Finish the Side Story to add the Plate Carrier M1 to Dylan's wardrobe.

Varsity Jacket

How to Unlock: Complete The Party Won't Stop.

Complete the Side Story to receive the Varsity Jacket.

Standard Issue Coverall

How to Unlock: Complete Maintenance Protocol.

Finishing the Side Story rewards Dylan with the Standard Issue Coverall.

Casual Outfit: Resonants

How to Unlock: Defeat all six major Resonants.

This outfit is tied to the game's major Resonant encounters rather than a single mission. You need to defeat the six Resonants found throughout Manhattan:

The Artist
The Deserter
The Dancer
The Collective
The Physicist
The Final Resonant in the Unknown

Once all six are defeated, the Casual Outfit: Resonants becomes available.

Other Outfit Items

Not every customization item comes from a main mission or Side Story. You can also expand Dylan's wardrobe through optional activities.

CONTROL Resonant Outfit

Testing Facilities

Testing Facilities can reward additional cosmetic items. Completing the Vesey Testing Facility in The Park, for example, rewards the Emergency Hood, while another Testing Facility can provide the Firebreaker Goggles.

Vendors

Vendors around Manhattan sell additional customization items for Source. Their available inventory can expand as you progress, so check back periodically if you're trying to collect every outfit item.

SHÜM Challenges

SHÜM arcade challenges can also reward outfit items. Performing well enough on certain challenges can add new cosmetics to Dylan's wardrobe.

Special and Promotional Outfits

Some cosmetics are tied to specific editions, pre-orders, or promotional campaigns rather than normal gameplay.

Hiss Corruption Outfit

The Hiss Corruption Outfit was offered as a pre-order bonus. Eligible players can access the cosmetic through the Wardrobe after unlocking the customization system.

AWE Mission Outfit

The AWE Mission Outfit is included with the Digital Deluxe Edition. It is a bonus cosmetic rather than an outfit earned by completing an AWE mission.

Occult Outfit

The Occult Outfit is a PlayStation-specific pre-order cosmetic. If you qualify for the applicable pre-order bonus, it becomes available through the Wardrobe.

Sierra Outfit

The Sierra cosmetics are available through the game's launch Twitch Drops campaign. Eligible players can earn the Sierra Suit, Sierra Vest, and Sierra Helmet by watching participating Control Resonant streams for the required amount of time.

Outfit Achievements

There are two achievements tied to Dylan's wardrobe:

Form Over Function: Obtain 12 outfit items.

Out of Uniform: Equip an outfit item in every customization slot.

You do not need every cosmetic in the game for Form Over Function. Story missions, Side Stories, Vendors, SHÜM challenges, and other optional activities provide more than enough opportunities to collect the required items.
