Cursed equipment in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake can restrict your actions and negatively affect your performance in battle. Once equipped, these items cannot be unequipped normally, and you must rely on a specific ritual to remove their effects.

Asking Benediction

When you equip a piece of cursed equipment, visit a Priest or Nun to perform a Benediction ritual. This ritual removes the cursed item from your equipment slot, allowing you to replace it with a normal piece of gear.

The service costs 50G multiplied by your current level, which can become expensive at higher levels. Because of this, it is essential to review an item’s description before equipping it to avoid incurring unnecessary fees.

If you find yourself short on funds, refer to the Money Farming Guide: How to Earn Gold Fast to gather the gold needed for the ritual in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

List of Cursed Equipment

There are four pieces of cursed equipment in Dragon Quest 2, each carrying different penalties when equipped.

The Sword of Ruin offers an Attack stat of 110 but is cursed and prevents your character from moving. The Wailer’s Mail provides 87 Defence but also immobilizes the wearer once equipped.

The Thanatos’ Shield, which grants 40 Defence, carries the same immobilizing curse. Lastly, the Devil’s Tail reduces your resistance to enemy spells and does not provide any attack or defense bonuses.

Avoid equipping these items unless you intend to experience their effects or have enough gold to remove their curses afterward in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.
