Elden Ring Nightreign Guide | How To Complete Revenant Remembrance Questline
Revenant is an excellent character to play, but in order to play her, you need to complete her questline.

The Revenant is a powerful class in Elden Ring: Nightreign. In order to unlock her, as well as her full potential, you will need to complete a lengthy and convoluted questline, all of which will be covered in this guide.
Prerequisites and Unlocking the Duchess Character
First, you must complete the Tricephalos Expedition at least once, defeating Gladius, Beast of Night. After doing so, and if you have given the Old Pocket Watch to the Priestess NPC, you will unlock the Duchess character.
Once this is done, proceed to speak with the Small Jar Bazaar NPC. You should now find the Besmirched Frame available for purchase. Acquire the Besmirched Frame, then reload the game.
Unlocking the Revenant Class via the Besmirched Mirror Relic
After purchasing the Besmirched Frame and reloading the game, head to the east section of Roundtable Hold to find and touch a Phantom.
This action will transport you to an arena where you must defeat the Revenant, also known as the Night Idol, in order to unlock her as a playable character. If you die during the attempt, don't worry—you can always try again.
It may take a few tries before you master a winning strategy. The most effective approach is to keep the phantoms away from the Night Idol until you can weaken her.
You can essentially ignore the large skeleton phantom but remain aware of its beam attack once the Night Idol's health drops to around half. When you are ready, use your Ultimate Art on Wylder to finish off the Night Idol.
Starting the Revenant Remembrance Quest
Once you have unlocked the Revenant as a playable character, select her and open your journal to begin Chapter 1: Remembrance. First, speak with the Duchess multiple times and eventually ask, "Why did you bring me here"?
Next, talk with the Recluse NPC, followed by the Guardian NPC. After speaking to the Guardian twice, choose "Speak of your request" to initiate the Revenant's Personal Objective.
Personal Objectives Explained (Blade of Night Fragment / Small Makeup Brush Relic)
When playing in groups, only one player can complete a Personal Objective per expedition. If three players wish to fulfill this objective—which requires successful completion of either the Tricephalos or Darkdrift Knight expedition—then the expedition must be completed three times in total.
To complete the Revenant's Personal Objective, you must be playing as the Revenant and must have the Remembrance active in your journal before beginning the expedition.
Since your team is likely familiar with the Tricephalos Expedition, you can focus on that one and finish it three times. Holy damage can afflict and weaken the final boss, Gladius, Beast of Night.
Your best chance as a Revenant is to find a Godslayer Seal with Black Flame; this deals significant damage to the Beast of Night when fully charged.
Also, stock up on Starlight Shards from Traders throughout the expedition to ensure you have enough FP to cast incantations for the entire battle. If you are given priority for the Personal Objective as Revenant, you will receive the Blade of Night Fragment.
After the expedition, return to Roundtable Hold and give the Blade of Night Fragment to the Guardian. Then, use the nearby portal to exit the Remembrance.
You should receive the Small Makeup Brush Relic and be able to access and start Chapter 5: Remembrance for Revenant. If Chapter 5 is not yet accessible, you may need to survive until Day 3 in the Gaping Jaw Expedition.
Revenant Chapter 5 Remembrance (Revenant's Chalice)
Once you can start Chapter 5, Remembrance, speak with the Duchess multiple times and eventually choose "Ask about the Night's Corrosion".
Next, locate and talk with the Recluse NPC in a new area of the hold, then sit on the nearby bench. This action transports you to a new location where you must defeat the Corrosion boss.
It is best to summon various Revenant Allies and then avoid the enemies as they self-destruct over time. After defeating the Corrosion boss, examine the nearby doll to return to Roundtable Hold. Interact with the portal there to complete the Remembrance.
You will obtain the Revenant's Chalice, which you can equip at the Relic Rites station. Note that the chalice features blue, green, and white relic slots. In contrast, the white slot was previously described as color-specific; it actually functions as a Wild Card slot, accommodating any relic color.
Accessing Revenant Chapter 7 Remembrance Quest
To unlock the next step in the Revenant's Remembrance questline, you must complete the Tricephalos Expedition with the Revenant once more.
It may be possible to advance the questline by completing a different expedition, but this has not been confirmed. During this run, aim to acquire a Godslayer Seal with the Elden Stars Incantation. This spell, combined with Black Flame, will swiftly dispatch Gladius.
Revenant Chapter 7 Remembrance (Old Portrait Relic & Remembrance Outfit)
Upon completion of the expedition, you will receive a notification that a Memory Fragment has been found. Visit the Revenant's journal to begin Chapter 7: Remembrance.
Speak with the Recluse and then sit on the bench again. In this sequence, you must defeat the Contaminant boss, which proves more challenging and requires active engagement.
Summon allies to distract the Contaminant while you attack it using the Revenant's primary weapon in a two-handed stance. After defeating the Contaminant boss, you will witness an extensive cutscene.
Once the cutscene concludes, speak with the Recluse one more time, then use the nearby portal to complete the Remembrance. Doing so will unlock the Remembrance Skin (or Garb) for the Revenant as well as the Old Portrait Relic, which is of purple (epic) quality.
Changing Garb and Equipping the Old Portrait Relic
To change your Garb, reload the game or complete an expedition if necessary.
Then, access the Wardrobe in the east section of Roundtable Hold to select the Remembrance outfit for the Revenant. You will also gain access to the ability to purchase new Garb or outfits for all characters. The Old Portrait Relic can be equipped at the Relic Rites station and fits into any blue or white relic slot.
Final Notes
With these steps complete, you will have unlocked and fully advanced the Revenant's Remembrance questline, acquired key relics, and obtained exclusive gear and cosmetics.
If any questions arise as you follow this guide, feel free to consult the in-game journal or explore Roundtable Hold for additional NPC dialogue cues.
