This guide will help you solve the advanced lock puzzle of the Strach Mansion in Enigma of Fear. It is often one of the first major barriers of the game, and it involves finding and using three key pieces.

A blueprint is displayed on a nearby surface in the same room as the lock puzzle. Activating a UV flashlight reveals markings that highlight three essential pieces required to solve the puzzle. The blueprint indicates that all three pieces are located on the Second Floor: one is in the Hallway, another in a Bedroom, and the third in a Separate Bedroom.

As you step onto the second floor, an alarm clock will start ringing, which triggers the emergence of enemies. These can then also be fought, or you can choose to avoid them. The time indicated on the clock face shows that it is "4:00", thereby establishing the "Hours" figure as 4. Going south from here leads to another room that contains a second blueprint. As soon as it is exposed to UV light, it illustrates the words "Hours, Minutes, and Seconds", further indicating that one requirement to solve this puzzle is to find three numbers.

To determine the "Minutes" value, proceed to the room located to the left of the alarm clock. The wall in this room appears noticeably different from the others and produces faint, unusual sounds when approached. Use a Crowbar to strike the wall several times, then switch to Lopi to pass through the newly revealed gap.

Inside this hidden space, there is a ghostly figure and a door blocked by a chair. After unlocking the door, Mia can enter the room normally. On closer inspection of the musical records in this area, using the UV flashlight reveals one marked with "13 minutes" next to the Roman numeral III. This confirms the "Minutes" value as 3.

The final value, representing "Seconds," can be found in a bedroom to the right of the staircase. Inside this room, there is a small homemade castle positioned in the corner. Upon opening a compartment at the bottom of the castle, a note and a pocket watch are discovered. Although the watch's hour and minute hands hang loosely, the second-hand remains fixed and points to 11. This establishes the "Seconds" value as 11.

With the three necessary values identified (4 for Hours, 3 for Minutes, and 11 for Seconds), head to the Grandfather Clock located at the top of the stairs. Activating the UV light reveals specific symbols on the Roman numerals around the clock face. Match these symbols to the corresponding numbers:

  • The first piece resembles a Hexagon with flat top and bottom edges.
  • The second piece appears as a Circle containing a small set of glyphs.
  • The third piece takes the form of a downward-pointing Triangle with a circle either inside or around it.

Correctly arranging these three shapes into the lock mechanism will solve the puzzle. This would open the lock and the door to the next area of the mansion.
