Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Guide | How to Locate Inscriptions in the Vatican

This guide will help you locate the 10 inscriptions required for the Secrets of Giants fieldwork quest in the Vatican. While there are no major plot spoilers, minor location details will be revealed.

During the main quest, The Stolen Cat Mummy, you’ll initially need to find four inscriptions for Antonio. Completing the Secret of Giants quest requires photographing all 10 inscriptions, earning you an ancient relic. Since collecting all 10 relics in the Vatican is part of a larger quest, finishing this task is essential.

To begin, unlock the hidden passageway beneath the library. Inside, you’ll find an ancient relic and a map of the secret inscriptions. Antonio will also provide a clerical key, which unlocks additional areas for exploration.

You’ll need a camera to photograph the inscriptions, which you can purchase at the post office. Check lockers and chests for coins to cover the cost. Once you have the camera, take a picture of Ernesto for a free achievement.

Photographing the Inscriptions

While you can’t access all 10 inscriptions immediately, here’s how to find them as they become available:

Inscription 1: Beyond the post office and pharmacy, head through the garden gates. The inscription is located at the back right.

Inscription 2: Found on the face of the fountain in the middle of the Badier courtyard. Jump into the fountain to get the proper angle.

Inscription 3: South of the fountain, climb the scaffolding to reach this inscription.

Inscription 4: Near the Fountain of Confession in the southwest part of the city.

After photographing the first four inscriptions, return to Antonio to advance the main quest. While you can capture more pictures before this, only the first four can be turned in at this point. Additional photos will count later when Antonio’s evidence board is updated.

Progressing to More Inscriptions

Inscription 5: At the southern end of the map, navigate through a tunnel with a guard. Use parkour to reach the rooftop where this inscription is located.

Inscription 6: Complete A Savage Discovery by talking to Professor Savage. At the excavation site, defeat a guard to obtain the cellar key and photograph the sixth inscription in the top-left corner of the area.

Inscription 7: Use the cellar key to access the post office cellar and find the seventh inscription inside.

Inscription 8: During a mission in an underground Vatican area, retrieve a parchment for Antonio. The eighth inscription is in a fenced-in area next to a zipline. If missed, backtrack to this area later.

Inscription 9: Complete A Nun in Trouble to gain access to the museum with Gina’s help. Before following her through a small window, jump onto a ledge above the guards to locate this inscription.

Inscription 10: Start The Mad Priest fieldwork by visiting a sister in the Cine Chapel. Antonio will give you a sewer key to open a gate leading to the final inscription.

Once you’ve photographed all 10 inscriptions, return to Antonio to display them on his board and claim your ancient relic reward.
