Welcome to your full guide on creating an inZOI character and setting up a family. The steps in this guide will help you understand every part of the customization process, whether you want to make a realistic home or a strange group of Zois. From custom clothes and relationships to facial features and traits, you're about to get all the tools you need to make your dream come true.
Getting Started with Character Creation
As soon as you start a new game, you are taken to the screen where you can make a character. To get back to the main family setup area before you start customizing, press the "back" button. This is where you'll make changes to the relationships between the characters you've made, who are also called Zois.
Camera and Interface Controls
To move around your character, use the left mouse button and rotate with the right mouse button. You can zoom in and out with your mouse wheel. Press Control + Shift + U to toggle the UI on and off.
There's also a Studio Mode for photo sessions where you can change backgrounds, facial expressions, poses, main lighting, and backlight, which is everything you need to capture photos or make videos.
Setting Up Basic Character Info
Create a name for your character first. There are two ways to type a name: by hand or by making up a first and last name. You might recognize the layout if you've played The Sims. For your Zoi, there are different age groups, from young children to teens to young adults to adults to older adults. Then, pick the gender.
You can also make the character something that makes them who they are, like a socialite, and watch how that makes them act, and what they value changes. Pick a life goal for your Zoi that shows what they want to achieve. There is a lot of information about each one that can help you decide.
Using Presets and Diving Into Customization
You can start from a preset character and modify it from there. Once you pick a preset, move on to the face customization section. Here, you'll find additional face preset hair editing options, including length, color, and highlights.
For facial adjustments, symmetry mode lets you choose between basic editing for areas like the lips and nose or detailed editing for more control. You can alter the jawline, eye width, and more.
Skin and Facial Details
You can pick any color tone under "Skin Options," even weird ones like "Shrek green." If that's too much, you can change back to a simple tone. You can change parts of your face by dragging them, or you can use sliders to change things like your smile lines and lips.
You can even paint your face or add moles, spots, scars, and more.
Eye customization gives you multiple iris colors. Makeup options are available, too, though they are mostly aimed at female characters.
Body Customization
You can manually shape your character's body, but there's no detailed editor for advanced tweaks. Choose from available body presets or adjust body shape, muscle tone, weight, and even body hair.
If you want, you can color the body hair, yes, even blue. This level of freedom allows you to create fantastical characters limited only by your imagination.
Outfits and Style
Move on to outfit customization, which follows the same preset and editable format. Choose outfits for different occasions, such as formal, sleepwear,z party, casual, and sportswear. Each one can be edited individually.
When selecting something like a summer outfit, head to Tops to browse shirts. You can recolor them or upload custom textures. There's also an AI texture generation feature; type a prompt like "flower pattern" and wait for your design to be created.
Choose outerwear, sets, bottoms, and accessories like shoes and even underwear. GL and MD options appear to connect with some design platforms. You can also tweak accessories such as hats, eyewear, earrings, and wristwear. If these are hidden under clothing, you might need to switch outfits.
There's also a craft menu for detailed clothing customization. You can recolor and retexture specific pieces, including pants and tops.
Creating Your Family
Finish making your first character when you're happy with it. Then, start making more family members. Up to eight people can live in the same house, but that many could be hard to manage.
For new characters, do the same thing—either start from scratch or use a random starting point. Afterward, access the relationship menu to define connections like roommates, partners, father, and son. Note that relationship options depend on the characters' ages.
Relationships can evolve as you play, so your setup isn't final. Once your family is complete, hit Create Family and jump into the game.
