Hozuki Pouches are important upgrades in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, allowing Musashi to carry additional healing and other useful effects. There are 9 Hozuki Pouch collectibles scattered throughout Kyoto, including four Oni Cloths and five Skeleton Hozuki.
This guide covers all Hozuki Pouch locations in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, including how to reach each collectible and how to fully upgrade the pouches.
How to Unlock Hozuki Pouches
You gain access to Hozuki Pouch upgrades during the Patching up the Pouch mission. Speak with Okuni to begin upgrading your pouch and collecting the materials needed for higher levels.
There are four special Oni Cloth pouches and five Skeleton Hozuki collectibles. Each Skeleton Hozuki is required for a Level 3 pouch upgrade.
Hozuki Pouch 1 and 2 – Southeast Kyoto
The first pair can be found in the southeastern part of Kyoto.

For the Oni Cloth: Regeneration, enter the courtyard north of the pouch marker and work your way up to the rooftops. Cross over the street, drop down, and use your Oni power to reveal the hidden Oni marker and chest.
The Skeleton Hozuki 1 is inside the nearby Oni Gate. Follow the same route through the courtyard and rooftops to reach the chest.
Hozuki Pouch 3 and 4 – Southwest Kyoto
Travel to the southwestern section of Kyoto for the next pair.

For the Oni Cloth: Aggressor, enter through the southern side of the houses and travel through the attic. Open the Oni Gate by defeating the two Genma, then head right and crawl underneath the wall. Use Oni Vision to reveal the hidden chest.
The Skeleton Hozuki 2 is also inside the Oni Gate, located in an alcove nearby.
Hozuki Pouch 5 and 6 – South of Shijo Street
The next two collectibles are located south of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror.
Climb onto the roof using the ladder on the western side of the buildings, then use Oni Agility to cross into the courtyard. Continue until you reach the Malice Barrier and break through it.

The Oni Cloth: Resistance is found in a hidden chest revealed with Oni Vision. The Skeleton Hozuki 3 is found in a nearby chest in the same area.
Hozuki Pouch 7 and 8 – Northeast of Yasaka Pagoda
Head to the area northeast of the Yasaka Pagoda Spirit Mirror.
Open the Oni wall by defeating the Spider Hand, then continue through the area and defeat the Genma in the courtyard. Once the enemies are defeated, crawl through the scaffolding in the northwest and use Oni Vision to reveal the chest containing the Oni Cloth: Awakening.
The Skeleton Hozuki 4 is located in the northern portion of the same courtyard.
Hozuki Pouch 9 – Hidden Treasure No. 5
The final collectible is the Skeleton Hozuki 5.
This one is obtained from the chest during the Hidden Treasure No. 5 Chance Encounter. Complete the encounter and open the Hidden Oni Treasure chest to collect the final Skeleton Hozuki.
How to Upgrade All Hozuki Pouches
Collecting all nine items is only part of completing the Hozuki Pouch collection. You must also upgrade every pouch to its maximum level.
Each Level 3 pouch upgrade requires 1 Skeleton Hozuki, so all 5 Skeleton Hozuki are needed to fully upgrade the available pouches.
Fully upgrading every Hozuki Pouch unlocks the Medical Marvel trophy/achievement.
Are Hozuki Pouches Missable?
You can continue exploring Kyoto and collecting the Hozuki Pouches until the point of no return before the final mission, The Clash at Rendaino. Make sure you complete your collection before entering the finale, or keep a manual save beforehand so you can clean up remaining collectibles.
Final Thoughts
The nine Hozuki Pouch collectibles are spread across several sections of Kyoto, but most can be collected in pairs. Check the Southeast Kyoto, Southwest Kyoto, Shijo Street, and Yasaka Pagoda areas first, then complete Hidden Treasure No. 5 for the final Skeleton Hozuki.
Remember that collecting all nine items isn't enough for the Medical Marvel trophy. You also need to fully upgrade every Hozuki Pouch.
