Slay the Spire 2 Guide | How to Unlock Custom Runs Fast

You can't use Custom Runs in Slay the Spire 2 right away. You can unlock the mode in the early-access version by beating Act 3 three times in normal play. The most important thing is that, so the quickest way is not to look for rare unlock tricks. 

It just means finishing Act 3 three times as quickly as possible. The current guide coverage also says that Custom Runs is a separate mode for modifiers, experiments, and setting up challenges after you have won.

The Quickest Way to Get the Three Clears

If you want to stay clean, stick with one character you already trust and focus on getting consistent wins instead of fancy builds. If one class already feels right, use it for all three clears. Here, a steady run is better than a risky one. 

The whole point is to quickly unlock the mode, not to show that every build works along the way. The same current guide coverage says that you should take the easiest route possible instead of making the unlock a long grind.

Don't worry about unlocking variety; just win

When runs turn into experiments, a lot of time is wasted. When you unlock this, it's better to draft for consistency, keep the deck lean, and go for upgrades that help you kill bosses quickly. 

The unlock only cares about Act 3 clears, so every weak detour slows things down. Usually, you shouldn't take a card if it doesn't make the next boss easier. It's more important to have that mindset than to try to make a flashy combo.

After the Unlock, You Get

Once you finish the third Act 3 clear, you can start changing the rules of the run yourself in Custom Runs. That's when the mode comes in handy for testing builds, making weird stacks of modifiers, and setting up challenge runs that standard mode doesn't let you do. 

This is why the unlock is so important. It's not so much about adding one more menu item as it is about opening the sandbox side of Slay the Spire 2.

Make the Process Easy

The least dramatic way to unlock is the fastest. Choose the character that gives you the best clears, play for consistent boss wins, and don't make the run too hard. 

Custom Runs opens up after you win three times in Act 3. This makes the game much more flexible for trying out new ideas, going after challenge setups, and making your own rules.
