Destiny: The Taken King - Tips on Taking Down the Earth Champions of Oryx

Need help killing Oryx's Champions on Earth, we have some tips

By Grayshadow, Posted 19 Sep 2015

Eventually you’ll get a quest that requires you to kill Taken Champions. You won’t be given the location or explaining how to get the enemies you need to kill to complete these encounters.

Where are the Taken Champions? These are Oryx's elite soldiers, they are not simple NPCs are will make mincemeat of anyone foolish enough to run-in without planning first.

That’s why we’re here, to help you get to these bastards and send them to their graves, first stop Earth.

Irxori, Lost to Oryx

Destiny,Noobfeed,Bungie,Activision,

Irxori appears in Skywatch. Head towards the building with the dish. Inside go through the Lunar Complex and you’ll be in the Skywatch area.

This Champion isnt’ challenging, his Lieutenants spawn closely in enclosed areas. You’ll probably need three other people to ensure success but just stay clear, aim for the head and don’t get near him.

Darnu, Horn of Oryx

Destiny,Noobfeed,Bungie,Activision,

Darnu appears in The Divide. From the patrol spawn area head right and go up some red stairs. Head through Dock 13 and you’ll be in the right place.

The Divide is usually populated with other Guardians to help, and plenty of vantage points for cover. Just look out for snipers and watch for the Captains black bubbles.

Stirok, Banner of Oryx

Destiny,Bungie,Activision,Noobfeed,

Stirok appears in Rocketyard. From The Divide head to the roadway on the right. Follow the road to your next destination.

The hardest of the three Earth Champions and requires a full fireteam.

The Taken will spawn in 3 large divided areas around the map, each obscured from the other. The first section before the wall where you enter the Rocketyard, the second is past the first tunnel and the third is on the far side. A Guardian must be stationed at each of these posts to ensure all the Lieutenants are killed before the encounter ends.

The higher your light level the better, because when you fight Stirok you’ll be yelling and hoping for it to end. A great place to stand is on the raised passage between the first and second areas. If he spawns by the third location try standing on the edge of the second area on the left and shooting across with a scoped weapon.

Have at least one player, with the best aim, stand in this location and continuously land headshots on this bastard. Another ally should be in charge on ensuring that the Sniper is constantly free of targets, killing any captains that jump onto the platform.
