A new Game Mode update for the Legion Go 2 Z2 Extreme has begun rolling out over Windows Update. Since the release, Lenovo has been releasing updates for the device via Windows Update, and the updates are typically available on the support website a few weeks later. The new release switches the handheld to the newer April 28 driver, adding updated AMD software and possibly new games.

In the last week, reports have begun to emerge that users are receiving the GPU driver update via Windows Update. The update was released on June 2 and installed alongside an update to the AMD Adrenalin application.

New Driver has arrived via Windows Update

Since it came out in October 2025, all changes for the Legion Go 2 Z2 Extreme have been delivered via Windows Update, and that's how they will continue to be delivered. Since then, no drivers have been sent through Legion Space, so Windows Update will be the main way to get drivers. Most of the time, changes to the support page will happen later.

This new release replaces the previous release 1001 and upgrades the system from driver branch 2611 to 2530. Although the numbering appears different, it is a newer driver package dated April 28. The update features the more recent January 8 release of AMD driver version 23033.1002, which supersedes the previous build.

The Updated Driver Will Automatically Test Recent Games

Testing the update was conducted on several recent games, including 007 First Light, LEGO Batman, and Forza Horizon 6. These were used for practical testing of stability, crashes, and performance changes after installation. There were no crashes or any other major problems in a few days of play. The driver remained stable across the three games, and the new Adrenalin software worked perfectly in all tests.

Since the game was updated several times after release, judging its performance in 007 First Light proved difficult. Some graphics options have been altered, so there's no way to directly compare them to previous testing. Despite these differences, performance was quite similar to that in earlier studies. Overall frame rates were comparable, and in a few cases, frame times were slightly better.

It shows either very little or just a little improvement with the new driver.

Forza Horizon 6 demonstrates significantly improved frame delivery. The most noticeable change in Forza Horizon 6 is the lack of a "fatality" mechanic. The biggest change you'll see in Forza Horizon 6 is that it lacks a 'fatality' mechanic. The game runs at 1200p with FSR on and the Medium preset, and it looks smoother than before the update.

The update doesn't make much of an impact on performance, but a newer driver can keep things up to date with newer games and game updates. Reducing the number of future drivers. The new Legion Go 2 Z2 Extreme GPU driver is rolling out via Windows Update and further pushes the device to a newer April driver.

Early results show stable performance, no crashes, and a few enhancements to frame-time characteristics in some titles, including Forza Horizon 6. It will take the standard time for the update to appear on Lenovo's support website. If you haven't received it, you can check Windows Update for new Legion Go 2 driver releases.
