Dead Space Remake Confirmed
Dead Space Remake being developed by EA Motive
News by Grayshadow on Jul 22, 2021
After rumors of a Dead Space Remake EA confirmed it during EA Play.
The game is being developed by EA Motive and is a remake of the original game. Expect the same established lore but a different take on the adventure similar to Capcom's remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. No gameplay was shown and no expected release date was provided.
Many, including myself, have fond memories of this acclaimed franchise until EA killed it. Large amounts of confirmed reports have detailed how EA meddled in Dead Space 3's development and how the publisher poorly marketed Dead Space 2 with tasteless commercials. Despite this Dead Space 2 did exceptionally well but due to the poor marketing decisions, which EA is now known for, the game's sales were disappointing by EA standards. Forcing the now closed founders of Dead Space Visceral Games to implement the infamous single-player microtransactions and focus more on action instead of horror because EA demanded it. This coupled with unrealistic sales goals and Dead Space 3 was doomed to fail, resulting in Dead Space 4 being canceled and the franchise left unfinished.
It's an unfortunate double-edged sword. If this remake does well maybe we'll finally get a new game in the acclaimed franchise but at the same time, it's supporting the very company that killed this promising franchise in the first place.
