Kalypso Media has announced that they have acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the upcoming dark fantasy video game The Inquisitor, created by the Polish company The Dust S.A. Originally titled "I, The Inquisitor", the title has been changed to "The Inquisitor" by Kalypso Media. The plot-driven game is set in an alternative religious and historical timeline full of murder, enigmatic mysteries, and horrific crimes.
In an alternative version of the year 1500 A.D., Jesus avoided being crucified, and instead of forgiving his enemies, he pursued terrible retribution on them all. An army of zealous Inquisitors persists in enforcing their so-called Holy Law centuries after it was first instituted. Mordimer Madderdin, an Inquisitor, anointed by the High Bishops of Hez Hezron, is the protagonist of The Inquisitor. Your adventure will begin in Koenigstein, where sin and religious violation are rampant, and you will be tasked with looking into the goings-on there. Find and question suspects strategically, put together the puzzle pieces, or use force if necessary, and then decide which side of the Holy Law will you take: kindness or vengeance?
But crime isn't the only shadow that's crept within the city, and nobody knows that Mordimer can go to the strange Unworld and learn the truth about the corrupted people who live there. Still, another kind of evil is hiding out here, and it wants to make its way into the realm of the living.
The Inquisitor is scheduled for a Q4 2023 release for Windows PC, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 5.
