Battlefield 1 continues to receive monthly updates and its latest one just went live today. The October Update comes with a number of bug fixes, but the largest change it brings is the disabling of the 40 player version of Operations. As Battlefield Creative Director Lars Gustavsson puts it:
"Based on continuous feedback from our community and an ongoing effort to ensure successful matchmaking for Operations servers we have disabled the 40-player option. We’ve determined that by allowing servers to only support 64-player Operations, match joining times are kept at a minimum and the probability of joining an active populated server is drastically increased. Our goal is to unite our players under this fan-favorite mode and consistently provide more instances of matches quicker. As with every improvement, we will continue to monitor experiences and take your feedback into consideration. See you on the Battlefield!"
Aside from that, the blast damage of the Tripwire-HE mine has been increased from 80 to 85, making it just enough to get Assist Counts As Kill against enemies with the Flak Specialization. Bayonet Charge now has both the option of a key binding that's separate from the melee one and a press or hold option. Players can no longer spawn in fire while playing on Brusilov Keep. Vehicles have been removed from the Back To Basics mode, while Elite pickups are no longer part of TDM and Domination. Server admins have also received the ability to move players between teamss. Have a look at the full update notes.
Battlefield 1's next expansion, Turning Tides, will be available this December.
