When the first gameplay footage from Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined was shown at TGS 2025, the game finally got some attention again. Fans received an overview of how the ancient RPG has been adapted for new consoles, notably Switch 2. The video highlighted new button prompts and controller configurations, which means that the game has been improved to function best with the newest hardware.

There aren't many details about the Nintendo Switch One version yet, but most people agree that Square Enix has carefully tweaked the game to make it a great experience. People are excited not only because they miss Dragon Quest VII, but also because they can play it on a modern device.

The game was first released on the PS1 and later ported to the Nintendo 3DS. It is now getting a new look. There will be a lot of people who can play the game as if it were brand new, even those who didn't get the 3DS version because of the price or the release date.

Gameplay enhancements and fan-friendly changes.

The change from first-person fighting to third-person combat is one of the most important changes. Many longtime series fans disliked how the older games' first-person battles functioned, so most people are glad that this has been changed. Characters can now be seen and talk, which strengthens the connection between players and their party.

With the new design, players can see their characters and connect with items that are unique to them, like dolls and other collectibles. This makes battles and exploring feel more real. Some material has been cut from the remake, but Square Enix states that there are good reasons for these decisions and will provide more information soon. Nevertheless, most people remain positive about it.

The main story and gameplay remain the same, making it easy for newcomers to start playing and evoking memories for old fans. Dragon Quest VII has always been a huge hit in Japan, and it has performed well on both the PlayStation 1 and the 3DS. In the West, however, it didn't get as much attention; Dragon Quest 11 ended up being more famous.

For those who may not have played Dragon Quest 7 the first time, this new version gives the series a chance to attract a new group of players.

A modern remake for a timeless RPG.

Square Enix's approach to Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined shows that they want to make the game better for players while still honoring the original game's history. The company plans to appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers by updating the combat, enhancing the graphics, and optimizing the game for current hardware.

People are really excited about the game, especially those who have never played the 3DS version. With updated features, a new platform to play it on, and great-looking gameplay, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined looks like it will be a major addition to the series' long history.
