Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Guide | How to Revive Party Members

Here’s how you can revive party members in the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

In Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, when a party member's health point plummets to 0, then they are deemed as dead and stay so even after the fight is over. No resurrection is processed automatically, and during the initial stages of the game, it becomes almost impossible to advance in the quest due to the loss of a member of the group. Dead party members don't gain XP, and fighting with a reduced team increases the risk of failure. Here's how to revive fallen allies.

Revival Options

Resurrection at Churches

The most reliable way to revive a party member is by visiting a church, marked on the map with a trident-like icon. Some smaller towns may have a Priest or Priestess outside instead of a dedicated building. Resurrection at a church always works but comes at a cost that depends on the character's level and vocation.

Always keep Chimera Wings handy for quick travel back to town to access a church. Churches are also where you can save your game.

Casting the Spell Zin

Priests gain access to the resurrection spell Zin at level 10. Unlike the church service, Zin doesn’t guarantee success and may need to be cast multiple times. Later in the game, a stronger spell with a 100% success rate becomes available.

If your Priest knows Zin, you can reduce resurrection costs by using a nearby Inn. Cast Zin repeatedly until it works, then rest at the Inn to restore your party's MP. This method is far cheaper than paying the church's fee, with costs amounting to just a few golds depending on the town.

While revival can be costly or time-consuming, managing these options efficiently will ensure your party stays strong and ready for future challenges.
