Here’s the best place to grind and level farm After Alltrades Abbey.

Game Guide by Joyramen on  Nov 17, 2024

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake has achieved a massive milestone, becoming not only the most concurrently played Dragon Quest game ever, with over 37,000 players at once, but also breaking Square Enix’s record for concurrent players, surpassing even Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy XIV.

This incredible achievement means many players are experiencing the Dragon Quest series—or Dragon Quest III—for the first time. To help out newcomers, here’s a guide to the best mid-game grind spot!

Getting to the Tower of Transcendence

When I say "mid-game," I’m referring to the section after reaching the Tower of Transcendence near Alltrades Abbey, just after you gain access to vocation changes.

The Tower of Transcendence is also where you’ll find the Words of Wisdom, the book needed to unlock the Sage vocation. Conveniently located near Alltrades Abbey, it’s an ideal spot for leveling up.

Navigating the Tower

  • Enter the tower and follow the path to what feels like the outer edge of the area.
  • Head up the stairs, walk across the tightrope, and continue down another set of stairs.
  • Go through the teleportal (although the updated teleportal sound effect might not be to everyone’s liking).
  • After the teleportal, take the middle path, avoiding dead ends. Follow the stairs upward, and you’ll reach the grinding room.

This specific room offers frequent encounters with Metal Slimes, making it one of the best places to earn experience quickly. While other areas in the tower also spawn Metal Slimes, this room is the easiest to access and provides consistent results.

Tips for Fighting Metal Slimes

  • Use Physical Weapons: Abilities like Falcon Slash or Monster Pylon (for Monster Wranglers) are highly effective.
  • Metal-Specific Attacks: Moves like Metal Slash or any abilities designed for metal enemies increase your chances of success.
  • Act Quickly: Metal Slimes often flee, so you’ll need a bit of luck to land your attacks before they escape.

Killing just one Metal Slime rewards you with 1,200 experience points. If you manage to defeat four, you’re looking at over 4,000 EXP—an excellent way to level up at this stage of the game.

Whether you’re a returning fan or a first-time player, grinding in the Tower of Transcendence is a surefire way to strengthen your party. Happy hunting, and may the Metal Slimes stick around for you!
