EA recently held a low-key business presentation at first, but it ended up with some significant announcements for the Star Wars Jedi and Battlefield series. We've got confirmation of the Star Wars Jedi series concluding as a trilogy and some information on Battlefield's upcoming installment, which seems to be trying to one-up Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's popularity.
EA confirmed that Respawn Entertainment is currently developing the final installment in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy. This news comes on the heels of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's release, which has already seen impressive numbers in sales. The first two titles have now been played by over 40 million people, a figure that includes both retail purchases and players accessing the games via EA Play subscriptions. To put that in perspective, Jedi: Fallen Order had 20 million players three years ago. This means Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has continued the series' success despite not reaching Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's sales numbers just yet.
While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still making waves, especially with its recent launch on PS4 and Xbox One, the third game in the series is expected to be a current-gen exclusive. A tentative release window of 2027 seems likely. However, there's a strong chance EA might push for a holiday 2026 launch to capitalize on the Star Wars fanbase during peak sales season.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see where the series is headed as this last title is going to be handled without the direction of Stig Asmussen, the creative mind behind both previous entries. He's also known for his work for the God of War series with Santa Monica Studios. Asmussen recently departed to form a new studio.
