Infinity Ward teases fresh Modern Warfare 4 reveals while internal reports show Call of Duty's rough year is affecting the wider XBOX lineup.

If you've been keeping tabs on Call of Duty lately, you already know it's been a wild stretch of news, and things aren't slowing down. Beyond the ongoing chatter about older titles getting ported, there's a fresh update straight from Infinity Ward that you'll want to pay attention to if Modern Warfare 4 is on your radar.

For a while now, Infinity Ward has gone quiet. You'll remember there was a massive marketing wave earlier in the year covering campaign, multiplayer, DMZ, and pretty much every major pillar of Modern Warfare 4. After that push, though, things went silent outside of some campaign early access details.

Given how aggressive that marketing cycle was, the sudden radio silence caught a lot of people off guard.

That silence just broke. Infinity Ward put out a new post referencing their "From the Ward" series, which is meant to pull back the curtain on the people and effort behind the game. According to the studio, new episodes are already in the works, with more Modern Warfare 4 content on the way.

They also shared a behind-the-scenes shot from their filming set to go along with the announcement. What this tells you is that deeper, more substantial reveals for Modern Warfare 4 are coming down the pipeline. It's reasonable to expect these could touch on campaign, multiplayer, DMZ, and possibly even Warzone integration.

There's also a good chance Infinity Ward digs into specific systems like Gunsmith or Create-a-Class, especially if they're addressing community feedback from past entries. It would genuinely be a welcome move if the studio owned up to what didn't land in Modern Warfare 2 and explained how those lessons are shaping decisions for Modern Warfare 4 this time around.

Whatever direction these upcoming episodes take, the takeaway is simple: Modern Warfare 4 has more information heading your way soon. Given the usual production timelines for filming and editing this kind of content, it's fair to guess you'll start seeing these deep dives and gameplay breakdowns around the middle of July, alongside whatever else Infinity Ward has planned for reveals tied to Modern Warfare 4.

Gaming as a whole has had a rough few days.

Both PlayStation and XBOX are dealing with their own share of bad press. On the XBOX side specifically, there's a new report worth knowing about. It's being said that people inside XBOX believe certain studios are facing consequences tied directly to how poorly Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 performed, with the fallout apparently spreading across the wider business.

This isn't coming out of nowhere either. There's already been talk about Call of Duty falling short of expectations this year. A chunk of that comes down to the game being available through Game Pass, which cut into traditional sales numbers.

On top of that, general reception was fairly muted from the jump, partly because of the futuristic setting, and partly because it followed Black Ops 6, a game that struggled to hold onto its audience after launch. That rocky post-launch period already did damage to enthusiasm around the franchise, and Black Ops 7 didn't do much to win people back or bring in new players.

Since Black Ops 7 was supposed to be the publisher's flagship release for the year, its underperformance is now reflecting poorly across the entire operation. And based on this new reporting, that fallout isn't staying contained. Other studios under the same publisher are reportedly feeling the impact too.

This is whether that's through shutdowns tied to ongoing rumors or tighter budgets across the board.

None of these developers has anything to do with Call of Duty directly, but since they all work under one roof at XBOX, they all get pulled into the mess created by the studio. Even if it seems strange, Call of Duty's performance matters a great deal to these studios.

Regardless of how good or bad they did it, it will affect those developers who had nothing to do with the game whatsoever. This is precisely what is happening at the moment, and it will be interesting to see how things play out, particularly with MW 4 still coming up to its reveal midway through all of this.
