While we’ve been waiting to hear about the Dorothy sequel, we’ll be getting the Lies of P: Overture DLC instead.

Lies of P was undoubtedly one of the biggest surprises of 2023, as everyone assumed it would be a cheap Bloodborne counterfeit the moment it was revealed. Despite its obvious origins, the game managed to stand out and was one of the finest games released in 2023, with Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2. While Dorothy was teased at the game's ending cutscene, we have been hoping to see some sort of update from the developers.
However, having already verified by NEOWIZ and Round 8 Studio that a Lies of P DLC was in the works, it seems likely that we'd be getting it soon, especially since it was revealed that DLC for the title would be released in the first quarter of 2025. It turns out we will have to wait a little longer than we thought. After making the Lies of P website password-protected just before the PlayStation February 2025 State of Play showcase, the moment seemed right for a disclosure.
Titled Lies of P: Overture, the DLC is a prequel that will take players back to the start of the Puppet Frenzy before the events that took place in the main game. It will also take players to Krat during its last days of wealth and downfall. The DLC begins with a Legendary Stalker, an enigmatic character who will lead players through the city's unspoken past and terrors.
We'll once more assume the role of Geppetto's puppet in Lies of P: Overture, but this time under the hands of the Legendary Stalker, Lea. The city stands on the verge of catastrophe, new dangers arise, secrets are revealed, and decisions impact the past and the present.
Round8 Studio's game director, Jiwon Choi, stated that the team always wished to delve deeper into Lies of P's world. We knew that the conclusion of Lies of P was just the starting point of what we wanted for players." He said that Lies of P: Overture offers the chance to "actually delve into the past and future of our world" and thanked fans for being patient while the team labored to tell the story they had always envisioned since day one.
The DLC will include new places, characters, and a few additional combat mechanics. This is what you can expect within the expansion. Once the pinnacle of Belle Époque beauty, Krat has descended into turmoil. Clinging to its past glory, it now teeters on the brink of disaster. This opens up new areas for players to explore, such as opulent mansions and creepy ruins.
There will be new challenges and some new lore for players to explore. New weapons, Legion Arms, and combat styles will also be available for players to learn and utilize to develop new combos and more diverse fighting styles. Players will also encounter new enemies and bosses that will challenge them to their limits.
Since Overture is a DLC Expansion, you'll need the Lies of P base game to play it. Lies of P: Overture is set for the Summer 2025 release on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While it'll be nice to play as Geppetto's puppet, hopefully, we'll soon find out more about the Dorothy sequel after this DLC is released.
