Konami has released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes in North America today and that comes with a launch trailer. As with most likely anything in the game, the clip centers itself on a military complex where Solid Snake is dropped.
It sure does look shiny and pretty. Rain effects combined with the lighting from spotlights and such make for a brilliant playground with cascading reflections everywhere. That certainly showcases the new Fox Engine and makes everything look all slick. There are also some combat and stealth elements though; it’s not just good looks. We briefly go over some of the open terrain, close quarter combat, crawling, night vision and explosive weaponry used in the game. If you’re wondering why Snake is listening to a cassette tape like some sort of hipster, it’s because the story takes place in 1975. They didn’t exactly invent .mp3 yet.
So far, reviews for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes are divided. Some don’t like the length of the game, though many also commend its replay value. So try to look at it like a sandbox thing, where you get to run the playground, more so than a linear mission progression thing. With reviews still coming in, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes still maintains a Metacritic rating over 70.
It looks pretty though, right? That's certainly something. If you live in Europe, you'll need to wait until March 20, 2014 to get Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One.
