With the surprise announcement of Metal Gear Survive not many were thrilled about the franchise's next game to be a cooperative survival game.
Konami told Polygon at Gamescom that the same will retail in the same price range of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which originally sold for $29.99 after being reduced from $39.99. Konami elbaorated stating that Metal Gear Survive would serve as a companion piece for a larger game that will launch on the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows 10.
Survive takes place in an alternate timeline where The Phantom Pain didn't happen. Instead one-year after the events of Ground Zeroes Big Boss leaves Motehr Base with a group of soldiers now attempting to survive in the remains. A wormhole opens and transports them into a deserted version of Ground Zeroes' setting where dangerous creatures, biologically damaged by traveling through time, now inhabit the environment.
While no gameplay was shown the trailer focused on brutal killing, improvised weapons, and cooperative survival. Konami promises that stealth will remain a key feature in Survive.
Metal Gear Survive is set to release in 2017.
