Ubisoft confirmed back in February that no new Assassin's Creed game was scheduled for this year. This doesn't mean that the publisher took an entire year off the franchise, instead new development was made to ensure the next game feels fresh.

Ubisoft,NoobFeed,

"What we saw in the development of the next [Assassin's Creed] was that we had an opportunity to take it to another level. So we said we'll take all the time it takes to make the experience fantastic. It was feasible because we have other games. There's a huge potential in this game to revolutionise the IP, so we said, "Let's make sure we change our model so we have more time and that we can bring back a greater experience."" CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot stated in an interview with Gamespot.

Guillemot did confirm that the next Assassin's Creed game will be ready for 2017, most likely during the holiday season. This also means we'll see it in action at E3 2017.

During the interview, Guillemot was questioned about other franchises such as Beyond Good and Evil, Splinter Cell, and Prince of Persia.

"It's not only the desires that are important, it's can our team come up with something that will be a revolution. You don't just want Beyond Good & Evil 2, you want a fantastic Beyond Good & Evil 2. You don't want us to bring it back as something that isn't perfect. That's a challenge we're facing; we have to come back with something crazy and something that will be great."

Guillemot didn't mention Prince of Persia but hesitant about Splinter Cell, stating "I don't know yet" and laughing. Maybe a new Splinter Cell is on the way, he just can't talk about it yet.

The last time we saw Prince of Persia was in the mixed received reboot in 2008.

You can read Gamespot's interview here. Guillemot explains the company's future in VR, original IPs, and the changing video game industry.

If you still want more Assassin's Creed the Ezio Collection is coming to Xbox One and PS4 this November.
